Johnston Gate

Completed in 1889, and built in Colonial Revival style, Johnston Gate is one of many entrances of Harvard University campus in Cambridge. Johnston Gate connects Harvard Yard to Massachusetts Avenue and Harvard Square.
Johnston Gate is named after Samuel Johnston, an alumni of Harvard (class of 1855), who donated $10,000 for its construction. Designed by the Boston architectural firm of McKim, Mead, and White, it is one of most photographed locations in Harvard University campus.
