[edit] Which was the alias?
The book I've been reading ("Fragile Paradise" by Glynn Christian) suggests that John Adams was his real name, and that he may have signed on to the Bounty as Alexander Smith because he deserted an earlier ship. That would mean he simply reverted to his real name on Pitcairn. Anyone know for sure?
