Talk:John Elliot Drinkwater Bethune
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the first section, how could he have founded a school after he was dead? Was the institute founded in his honor or name after his death, or are the date of foundation or death possibly wrong?
Why is most of this article about Bethune College and not Bethune himself? Worse yet, the actual Bethune College article is simply a stub and also claims that Bethune himself founded the school in 1879, although it says here that he died in 1851! I could attempt to drop most of this info into the Bethune College article, but it's so poorly written that I question how accurate it is. A Runyon 22:20, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
- The school Bethune founded was named after him after his death. This is made clear in the article. It is important to understnd the background and the impact it had - it was not merely the founding of a school, it was the beginning of education for girls in British India. The college was a subsequent addition. -- P.K.Niyogi 05:54, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
