Clement's excommunication of Robert Bruce did not have any effect on his claim to the crown. He received almost immediate absolution from Bishop Robert Wishart of Glasgow, and was crowned with the full support of the Scottish church, the papal inderdict notwithstanding. It's a myth. The Scottish light horse at Falkirk did not 'withdraw'; they were driven from the field by the heavy English cavalry. Be wary of the Blind Harry view of history and its modern 'Braveheart' incarnation. Rcpaterson 22:36, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

As "John Comyn" redirects here, it would be in keeping with normal Wikipedia practice to move this article to "John Comyn", treat this title and other plausible alternatives as redirects, but keep John Comyn (disambiguation). PatGallacher 17:47, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

- I don't think so. There's nothing wrong with having John Comyn redirect to John Comyn (disambiguation). At any rate, it is customary on wiki to refer to the nobility by their titles, in this case "Lord of Badenoch". Calgacus (ΚΑΛΓΑΚΟΣ) 19:17, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

- It is my opinion that John Comyn should redirect to the Disambiguation page, as this is clearly a matter of multiple persons known by the same name needing disambiguation. --Jon Cates 00:23, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- I agree that John Comyn should redirect to the disambiguation page. I think the Red Comyn is perhaps somewhat more notable than the other John Comyns, but not so much so as to bypass disambiguation. Choess 18:41, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
