Jonah Kim

Jonah Kim (born June 8, 1988) is "one of the most gifted cellists the world has seen."[1] Born in Seoul, Korea, he moved to the United States and began his studies on the cello at the age of 7. After only six months of self-instruction, he was accepted to the Juilliard School where he studied with full scholarship for 3 years.
Jonah was first recognized as an exceptional talent in 1997 by the legendary cellist and pedagogue, Janos Starker, who invited Jonah to perform at Indiana University after months of correspondance through letters. Since then he has performed in major venues throughout United States appearing in recital performances as well as with orchestras such as the Philadelphia Orchestra and the National Symphony.
In 2000, Jonah moved to Philadelphia to attend the Curtis Institute of Music. For 6 years, Jonah studied at the Curtis Institute with Orlando Cole of the Curtis String Quartet and Peter Wiley of the Guarneri Quartet. He graduated in 2006 and is currently performing and teaching in various European cities. [2]
