Jonathan Lavery is a fictional character on the ABC daytime soap opera All My Children. He has been portrayed by Jeff Branson since June 15, 2004.

Jonathan arrived in Pine Valley in June 2004 as the younger brother of Ryan Lavery. Jonathan had just graduated from business school and Ryan hired him to work at Cambias Industries. In September 2004, Ryan was shot at a murder mystery party in Zach Slater's casino by who everyone thought was Kendall Hart, who Jonathan had slept with when he first got into town. Soon after, Ryan's wife, Greenlee, was poisoned, and Jonathan blamed many people including Kendall, Zach, & Ethan Cambias, all of whom had a vendetta against Ryan. When Jonathan wasn't blaming these people, he was involved romantically with Maggie Stone, leading to a sudden engagement in January 2005. It was then that Jonathan started to revealed his controlling, abusive side, going as far as to hitting Maggie. In February 2005, Maggie found the courage to leave Jonathan and soon left town with Bianca and Miranda Montgomery. That same night, Edmund Grey was killed in his stables at Wildwind by whom people thought was Zach.

It was revealed in the March 2005 that Jonathan was responsible for shooting Ryan, poisoning Greenlee, and murdering Edmund. An unhinged Jonathan kidnapped Kendall, Greenlee and Lily Montgomery in April 2005, all in a twisted attempt to "save" Ryan. Ryan discovered his brother's guilt and tracked the women and Jonathan to the cave where he was keeping them captive. There, Ryan learned that Jonathan had actually killed their brother Braden and framed him for the crimes. Jonathan was going to kill Greenlee, so Ryan was forced to shoot his brother to save his wife. The women escaped, but Jonathan triggered a bomb in the cave, burying him under a pile of rubble. Ryan was forced to deal with the guilt associated with killing his own brother. He spiraled into a depression, convinced that he was as tainted as his two brothers. In order to protect Greenlee from what Ryan saw as a doomed life with him, he faked his own death. During this time, Ryan not only found his long-lost sister, Erin Lavery, but discovered that she had found Jonathan and nursed him back to health. After having Jonathan admitted to a hospital, Ryan and Erin were shocked to learn that their brother had a large brain tumor, which along with mis-prescribed anti-psychotic drugs, were deemed responsible for his all of his actions since childhood. The tumor was removed, reducing Jonathan's mental state to that of a child.

It was during this time that Jonathan befriended Lily, who was autistic. Their unique friendship turned to love, something that unnerved Lily's father, Jackson Montgomery. However, while in New York City in the spring of 2006, Jonathan and Lily, who had turned 18 recently, got married. Weeks later, a seizure restored Jonathan's adult faculties to him. However, he decided to keep it a secret so that Lily wouldn't feel alone again. And although Amanda Dillon, Lily's one-time stepsister, found out, she kept it a secret. The plot however came to an end in August 2006 when Jackson wanted to declare Lily mentally incompetent and Jonathan came out with the truth. A distraught Lily divorced Jonathan, who was heartbroken, but soon comforted by Amanda, who was developing feelings for him.
