Jordan Maxwell is a researcher and speaker in the fields of astrology, theology, religion, secret societies, the occult, and UFOlogy since 1959. He has produced numerous video lectures and documentaries on these subjects.

Maxwell believes all religions not only parallel but are, in fact, ultimately based on Sun worship and astrology. Maxwell believes the elements of all religion are a chronically misunderstood message sent from an unknown extinct civilization that is thousands of years old. The message, he believes, is a religious truth that can be represented through astrology. Maxwell says the message is proof positive of "God's divine presence" and, further, that it tells a tale which indicates that our current civilization is on the brink of destruction dictated by supernatural forces.

One of Maxwell's core tenets is his belief in the power of words. Maxwell believes that "We as humans are word-controlled." He uses this concept, coupled with his belief that most languages have the same root, to associate words with similar phonemes to related meanings.

Maxwell also believes that his research reveals a secret society which controls government and major religious institutions in concert with organized crime. This secret society, he believes, practices ancient Caananite religion in secret and is revealed through various Caananite symbols used by government and religious institutions.

Christmas, for example, celebrated on December 25, Maxwell says is simply a celebration of the winter solstice of the northern hemisphere. Maxwell notes that, on the solstice, the Sun raises in the sky "not one degree higher" between December 22 and December 24. In Maxwell's view, this is why Christians believe Jesus, whom they worship as the son of God--or, to Maxwell, the Sun of God--was resurrected after 3 days. Maxwell thinks Jesus' resurrection is meant to be a metaphor for the solstice, and that Christians have been fooled by these secret societies into believing it to be literal truth or parable.

Note, though, that Jesus' resurrection is observed on Easter and observed with respect to the solar equinox in March, not the solstice in December. His resurrection was also said to have been on the 3rd day, not after the 3rd day.

Furthermore, the Sun's declination (the angle of axial tilt of the Earth with respect to the Sun) does not vary by more than one degree for 4 days. This particular scenario occurs during both solstices, in most years from December 21st through 24th, and June 20th through 23rd[1]. Note too that declination does vary for less than one degree during these four days. A graph of Earth's declination produces a wave, due to the Earth's orbit, with each of Earth's two solstices at the crest or trough. Because of the tilt, during a solstice the Sun is directly overhead (at zenith) of either the Tropic of Cancer or Tropic of Capricorn. The Sun is never directly overhead further north or south of these latitudes.

And, while related, declination shouldn't be confused with the Sun's zenith angle (height of the Sun in the sky, measured as an angle from the zenith (straight up)). Zenith angle varies with respect to distance from the equator, and, at solar noon around the solstices, could be said to "not raise one degree" for far longer periods depending on the observer's distance from the equator^{[citation needed]}.
