Jorge Sanz (born August 26, 1969) is s a Spanish actor. One of the most prominent actors of the Spanish Cinema of the 90s, he is most known to international audiences for his roles in the films: Amantes (1991) by director Vicente Aranda and Fernando Trueba’s Belle Époque (1992)

[edit] Early Life
Jorge Sanz Miranda was born on August 26, 1969 in Madrid. The youngest of five children, he would have followed a military career in the footsteps of his father, but his mother took him to an audition when he was nine years old and he was cast as the son of Jane Birkin in the film La Miel (1979) directed by Pedro Masó. From then on, he started a prolific career as a child actor mostly in commercial films. His self-confidence and naturalness before the camera made him a popular child actor in the Spanish screens.
Between the ages of nine and fifteen, he played in ten features within and beyond the Spanish film industry. Most notably as the young Connan in Conan the Barbarian (1982), a role played as an adult by Arnold Schwarzenegger. His role as a rascal in Valentina (1982) made him won his first award as an actor.

His roles in the film of Fernando Trueba and Vicente Aranda solidified his career. In 1986 he starred with Maribel Verdú, in El Año de Las Luces directed by Fernado Trueba. In his first role as an adolescent and in 1988 he had the leading role in Vicente Aranda’s Si Te Dicen que Cai, for which he obtained a Goya Award as Best actor. He followed this success with two more film under the direction of Vicente Aranda, Los Jinetes del Alba (1990), a made for T.V miniseries, and Amantes (1991) that was an international success.Two years later he made with Fernando Trueba Belle époque, that won the Oscar as a best foreign film. He gave in Amantes and Belle Epoque two of his best interpretation and remain his best known international films.
The decade of the 90s confirmed his popularity and he made two roles a year. Combining comedies Para que Le Dicen Amor Cuando quieren Decir Sexo (1992) and Chá-chá-chá (1997) with more dramatic roles: Morirás en Chafarinas (1994), Libertarias (1995) although he admit that it feels more comfortable with comoc roles. he has also alternated cinema with television. Taking part in the T.V series like Los Jinetes del Alba (1989) and in comedies like Colegio Mayor (1993-95), Pepa y Pepe (1995) and A Las Once en Casa (1999).
Originally cast to play the role of "Víctor Plaza" in Carne trémula (1997) by Pedro Almodóvar He was fired after the second day of shooting because of several disagreements with the director and was replaced with actor Liberto Rabal.
He made two more successful films with Fernando Trueba: La Niña de Tus Ojos (1998) and El Embrujo de Shangai (2002).

Jorge Sanz dated Sanish actress Lucía Jiménez in 1998 and had a son with actress Paloma Gómez, Merlín, born September 25th, 2002. They had met when they were children while filming the movie Valentina but began their relationship almost 25 years later, when they met again in a play, they split in 2006.
