Jorge Velandia

Jorge Luis Velandia [ve-LAHN-deah] (born January 12, 1975) is a Major League Baseball shortstop who plays in the Tampa Bay Devil Rays organization. He bats and throws right handed.
A native of Caracas, Venezuela, Velandia has played with the San Diego Padres (1997), Oakland Athletics (1998-2000), New York Mets (2000-2003).
Since he last appeared in the majors on September 28, 2003, Velandia has played in the minor leagues for the Richmond Braves, the Indianapolis Indians, and the Charlotte Knights.
On December 1, 2006, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays signed Velandia to a minor-league deal with an invite to spring training.
