Joris Lammers
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Joris Lammers is one of the current experts on metastereotypes, the assumptions people have about outgroup attributed stereotypes about one's own group. Research indicates that metastereotypes may have important consequences for thoughts and behaviour in intergroup settings. Although the existence of socially shared metastereotypes have been demonstrated, it is not yet clear when metastereotypes are activated and when not. Lammers studies whether a relationship between people of groups with unequal power may lead to metastereotyping, and investigates what variables are vital mediators and moderators. He is currently working at Groningen University.
