Josef (networking)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Joseph (german: Josef) is a synonymous designation for an RJ45 connector which allows to interconnect two twisted pair cables to extend the network link.
Originally the idiom Josef had been coined in the German language but had been also assimilated in the English language area because many network administrators think that the official designation for this device (connector or i-connector) is rather ambiguous.
Since such (link extension-) connectors are often used in LANs the jokey designation Josef is widely used in the networker's jargon.
