Josh Cody

Josh Cody was a college football head coach. From 1927 to 1930, he was the head football coach at Clemson. During his tenure, he compiled a 29-11-1 record, was 3-0 against archrival South Carolina, and was 13-0-1 at home. During that stretch, he also served as the school's basketball coach. From 1936 to 1939, he served as the head football coach at Florida, where he compiled a 17-24-2 record.
In 1955, he served as the school's head football coach, and compiled an 0-8 record. He is more notable for coaching the school's basketball team. During his tenure, he won over 100 games, and made the NCAA Tournament in 1944.
He was an All-American lineman at Vanderbilt. In fact, he remains the only player in school history to earn All-American honors three times, in 1915, 1916, and 1919. He had served in the army during World War I as a lieutenant in 1917 and 1918. He was the key player during the school's best stretch, when they went 23-9-1. He was also noted for his versatility. He played the quarterback, running back, and place-kicking roles during a few plays. At Vanderbilt, he was also a member of the school's baseball and basketball teams.
After he graduated in 1920, he became the head football coach and athletic director at Mercer. In 1923, he returned to Vanderbilt, where he became the school's baseball and basketball head coaches. During that time, he also served as an assistant coach. The 1926 to 1927 basketball team finished 20-4, which is the best record in school history. He is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame, and the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame
