Judeţ
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A judeţ is an administrative division in Romania and was also used for some time in Moldova. It is commonly translated to English as "county".
Its name is derived from Romanian jude (< Latin "judicis"), was a boyar office with administrative and judicial powers in the Danubian Principalities, roughly corresponding to both judge and mayor.
