Julie Anne Howell

Julie Anne Howell (b. 1970) is an elementary school teacher working in Deer Creek, Oklahoma at Rose Union Elementary. Julie joined the Rose Union faculty after 14 years teaching at Roosevelt Elementary in Norman, Ok. While at Roosevelt, she was site Teacher of the Year in 2004 and a Finalist for district Teacher of the Year. Ms. Howell has a B.S. in Elementary Ed. from Oklahoma Baptist University and a M.Ed. in Early Childhood from the University of Oklahoma. She is a National Board Certified Teacher in Early Childhood Education.
Her instruction and practices in the classroom are grounded and based on current research-based findings, theories, and works of Early Childhood figures John Dewey, Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky. She is involved in a variety of professional organizations and leadership roles. She frequently presents at local, regional and state conferences and is currently the Vice-President of Elementary for the Oklahoma Council of Teachers of Mathematics. In addition, she is an educational consultant/trainer for Voyager Expanded Learning in Dallas, TX and leads professional development sessions to teachers across the nation in effective teaching strategies for summer instruction.
When not teaching children or adult learners, Ms. Howell is putting the finishing touches on her newly built home in Deer Creek. She travels extensively with her husband and can usually be found planning their next trip. She is committed to her church (Crossings Community Church in north Oklahoma City) and is active in the Okc community helping support underprivileged families.
