en: Illustration of a vacum pot coffee brewer and the process which makes the water go from the bottom to the upper chamber. The heat source (A) warms up the water in the bottom chamber and produces vapour and builds up pressure (because vapour takes more space than water because of the density of the molecules) (B). To handle the pressure in the bottom chamber the water is forced up the tube (C) (going north) to the upper chamber where it is mixed with the coffee grounds (D).

no: Illustrajon av en vakumkanne for brygging av kaffe og prosessen som får vannet til å gå fra den nedre til den øvre kolben, hvor den blandes med kaffepulveret. Varmekilden (A) varmer opp vannet i den nedre kolben og produserer vanndamp, noe som øker trykket (fordi vanndamp tar mer plass en vann, noe som kommer av molekyltettheten) (B). For å hanskes med det økende trykket presses vannet fra den nedre kolben, gjennom røret (C), til den øvre kolben var det blandes med kaffepulveret (D).
