Kamaluddin Mohammed

Kamaluddin Mohammed, better known as Kamal, is a Malayalam director. He was born on November 28, 1957 in Mathilakam, Kodungallur. His first film was Mizhineer Pookkal in 1986 and to date, he has directed more than 32 movies. He has also directed in Tamil and Hindi. Apart from his role as a director, Kamal was recently elected as the general secretary of MACTA (Malayalam Cine Technicians Association). He is also the executive member of the Kerala Chalachitra Academy.

Kamal has won the State award for Best Director for the film Ulladakkam. This film was also awarded the Filmfare award and also featured in Indian Panorama.
Mazhayethum Munpe won the State Award for Best Popular Film, Critic’s Award and the Ramu Kariat Award for Best Director.
Madhuranombara Kattu & Meghamalhar was awarded the State award for II best film. Meghamalhar also won the State Award for Best Screenplay, Film Critics Award for Best film, and Ramu Kariat Award for Best Director.
Perumazhakaalam won the Indian Governments National Award for Best film on National Integrity
