[edit] Plot

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Noriko, an ordinary schoolgirl happened to slip from her world into another mysterious world of magic and flying dragons where chaos was being raged due to the ancient foresaying of The Awakening. Every kingdom in this world was in search for the Awakening for the belief in its power to control the Sky Demon the most destructive monster. In this magical world, Noriko met Izark the lonesome warrior and accompanied him. Izark, or actually the Sky Demon in human form, was born with mysterious power that made others abhor him and caused him to live a lonely life. He came here in order to change his fate by attempting to kill the Awakening only to find out that his target turned out to be just a harmless girl.

Izark realized that Noriko knew nothing at all about her endangered status in this world and he couldn't leave her alone in the middle of nowhere. He decided to take her to his old and only friend Gaya. During the journey to Gaya's place, he was strucked by a mysterious illness-- the sign of his physical transformation to the Sky Demon. Of course, Noriko had no clue about his illness as well as his frustration at her but she tried her best to nurse him. Rachef, the young ruler of Rienca, sent his best warrior Keimos to search for the Awakening. Finally Keimos caught up with them and he and Izark started a duel. The result of this was Izark being the victor.

Izark took Noriko to Gaya and left alone. But he could mysteriously hear her voice asking for help from miles away. Gaya was attacked by the authority and was imprisoned for hiding the exiled Duke Jieda, the good administrator of Zago, and his followers. Noriko was saved by Agol, the retired Commander-in-chief from Rienca. On his way back to Gaya's place, Prince Nada was interested in Izark's strength and agility in martial art and tried to have him captured. Izark was drugged and taken to Prince Nada's cell where he met Duke Jieda. After that, Irark fought 18 of Prince Nada's best men in a competition and won against them all. In the confusion of it all, Agol snuck in and rescuded Duke Jieda. After they all escaped safe and sound.

Gaya led the band to her sister's place in Gusena. They decided to avoid the military's sight by going through the Evil Woods where no one ever returns. In the woods they were caught in the labyrinth by a monster in the shape of hair(!?!) Izark fought it so hard that he was overloaded with his inner power. The dark power inside caused him to transform part way into the Sky Demon. His body was changing uncontrollably into an ugly monster. Noriko didn't want to lose him so she told him how much she loved him and begged him to be with her no matter how monstrous he turned.

With the help from Irktule (Irk for short) the tree fairy of the woods, Izark could defeat the hair demon and from then on the wicked woods became a history. Noriko was courted by Banadum, Duke Jieda's assistant, making Izark feel jealous at her. Finally they arrived to Sena's place. Sena (Gaya's sis) was the royal seer but the Gusena king replaced her with the beautiful seer Tazashena. Tazashena wanted a foreign girl to be a human sacrifice for the water demon Mokumen. Noriko was abducted and Izark went to rescuing her. But the water demon was much stronger than the hair demon so he had to overload his power once again. This time his body was even more hideously turned. He went beserk when he could hear Norkio calling for his help, but because of the men in his way, he couldn't get there as fast as he wished. By the time he made it into the palace, Izark had almost completely lost his conscious mind. When she saw him, Noriko ran into his arms and said that she would always be there for him.

After Noriko helped Izark to return to his former self, Tazashena realized that the two were The Awakening and The Sky Demon. Noriko was also shocked by the suddenly revealed truth. She now clearly understood why Izark wanted to leave her and why he was so frustrated at her every time he was strucked by the mysterious illness. Noriko asked him to leave her alone and ran away. Izark chased after her and declared that he also loved her and asked her to be with him forever. The two, now realized in their inevitable fate, decided to leave Duke Jieda's group and began their lonely journey once again.

The two arrived at the city of flowers where the citizen were holding its annual flower celebration. Izark helped the mayor take care of the celebration. But unfortunately, Rachef, with the help of Tazashena, finally hunted them down. Keimos had returned from what Irzark had thought was a certain death. This time he was surprisingly stronger. During Izark's fighting, Noriko was abducted. Keimos was so strong that Izark could not defeat him. He was caught in a labyrinth inside an ancient underground town where the dark force was originated. Here, he was seriously injured. Noriko, with the help of Dolos --Rachef's Chimo breeder--, escaped from her confinement and was on the way to rescue Izark. The dying Izark used all power he had to save Noriko from the fall she willingly jumoed into. Suddenly, from the inner most of his dark soul emerged a shining light in the form of dazzling white wings, which appeared when he accepted who he was; "I am what I am". The two finally escaped.

Izark was seriously injured and needed a place to recover his health. Irk, the tree fairy, came to help them by using his power to hide them from Rachef's sight. They arrived in a small peaceful countryside where they bore false names and lived a simple life among the villagers. Here in this small town, they met the runaway wife and daughter of Duke Jieda and Aref, their guard. Izark saved them from bounty hunters and decided to accompany them in their search for Duke Jieda.

Along with Duke Jieda's folks, Izark and Noriko journeyed to a border town where they met 3 Phoenix tribesmen led by an old man named Dungel. The three were here to save Kreajet, another good thinker and administrator now imprisoned. Izark was told that this wiseman had once given a speech on Sky Demon that "Sky Demon may or may not have to be devastating" and wondered whether Kreajet can explain the meaning of the shining white wings that once appeared. So, he decided to help Dungel free Kreajet. The plan to save Kreajet was successful. However, they were facing a new problem with the Blunui brothers, the uncommon warriors who were chasing after Kreajet. Meanwhile, the seer Tazashena was now tracking down Izark and Noriko by looking for the people traveling with them.

Izark encountered the Blunui brothers to save Kreajet. One of his opponents had an ability of a copycat. He copied Izark's power and intended to use it against him. But the power of the Sky Demon was so massively strong beyond his control. Finally, the villain's body was misshapedly transformed and exploded himself which led to his death. Izark as well as his comrades were shocked by the abhored sight. Noriko could sense the transformation of the Blunui brothers must have some connections with Izark. Suddenly Kreajet spoke up "Power is just power... whether it is good or evil depends on the heart of its owner. Even the Sky Demon, the most destructive monster, could turn into Light." His speech mysteriouslly drove out all the doubts and fear in everyone's heart, including Izark's. And once again they, regained their hope.

The band decided to go to Ennamaruna or the Sand City where the legend of Light was originated. Now, the sanctuary for Gaya and Duke Jieda, together with other good administrators who were exiled from many kingdoms. Meanwhile Rachef closely tracked them down. This time The Awakening is his first mission to be killed for the Sky Demon inside Izark could be fully awakened. Izark and friends used Chimo to teleport to Ennamaruna where they were warmly welcomed. Sena the Seer told them about the legend of Light and Darkness which was inscribed in an ancient scroll here. The legend had it that in ancient time there was a priest who used his dark force to rule the country and was behind all the political changes for centuries. The mysterious priest intended to achieve immortality. But a mistake had happened, his body was destroyed and his temple submerged down to the heart of the earth. Izark realized it must be the underground labyrinth where he had fought with Keimos. The last battle is about to begin...

Their friends knew well of Noriko and Izark's real status. They ensured the couple that Izark or the SKy Demon is not evil. He was on the right path towards Light with Noriko as his guidance. Izark was grateful for the warm friendship and acceptance he got for the very first time. Then, before they knew it, Doniya Kingdom's troops attacked the Sand City and Izark was on defense. Upon his absence, Rachef had abducted Noriko and tried forced her to give him the exact power she gave Izark. Of course, poor Noriko had no such power but he didn't believe her. He harshly cut her hair and locked her up. Izark nervously searched for her. The fear of losing her was overwhelming him and it slowly took control over his conscious.

Tazashena was so jealous at Rachef for paying attention to Noriko that she let the girl loose. Noriko used Chimo to warp right back to Izark at the expense of all her strength causing her to go into critical condition. Rachef was so mad that his precious bait escaped and rushed his troop to the Sand City and called for the final battle.

The battle between Izark and Keimos was frightening. The once human Keimos had traded his soul to the devil in exchange for power equal to that of Sky Demon. His body shifted into hideous monster as the more he used power the more his soul was consumed. In the end Keimos was being eaten alive but he was still determinded to fight. Izark respected his foe's brave heart and accepted him as his greatest rival before he helped end Keimos's miserable life. On her bedridden condition, Noriko had enlightened the truth of the Origin of Light. All life came from the same origin and were linked in some invisible way. Every being is part of the universe. Her mission in this world is as well as other people's mission. Her power, though how tiny it is, will pass on and grow in others' part. Just look back into our heart is the origin of Light. With this realization, Noriko was connected once again to Izark and was able to channel his power through her and wipe out their enemies.

With all his best men gone and his dark territory destroyed, Rachef backed into the deepest part of the underground cave where he stored the Moonstones, the life force of this evil lair. Izark followed and was determined to destroy the place. Rachef's unfathomable thirst to fulfill his need for love was revealed. The guy was just another poor soul who sought for ultimate love and attention. Izark determined to help him but it was too late as his soul became part of the evil cave. The least thing he can do is to free the poor soul and let him see the world of light before he died. And Rachef did finally see it. The final battle ended with the victory of Light over Darkness. From now on the exiled administrators would return to their kingdoms and rebuild the long abandonned value. Izark had now gained full access to ultimate power was hesitating whether to send Noriko back to her home or not. He knew Noriko missed her family and he couldn't keep her safe all the time. But Noriko insisted she wanted to be here with him forever. She asked him to send back her diary instead. The journals she had kept from the very first day she came to this world will tell their story as a mean to connect between this world and the world she came from. Hopefully one day when the power of Light is stronger, Noriko and her Izaku might found a way to go back to visit her family. One day.... it will happen.

Spoilers end here.
