Kandoucho
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kandoucho, meaning "All Saints", was one of 28 villages of the Neutral Nation in Southern Ontario. The location of the village is unknown. It could have either been near the location of modern-day Brantford or Burlington. The village's existence is recorded in the journals of Catholic missionaries who visited the region in the early 17th century. Reverend Father Joseph de la Roche Daillon spent the winter of 1625-1626 with the people. Fathers Jean de Brebeuf and Pierre Jean Marie Chaumonot came to the village preaching Christianity in summer 1640. They and their servants gave the inhabitants smallpox. The village was destroyed by invading Iroquois sometime in the late 1650s.
