The oldest known name of Karaburun Peninsula was Mimas. The same geography later carried the names Stelar or Stylarius (Ionian), Caleberno (Genoese), Ahırlı (Ottoman), and the present-day Karaburun (possibly a modified form of Caleberno in the beginning).
