Kate Price (actress)

Kate Price (February 13, 1872-January 4, 1943) was a film actress from Cork, Ireland. Her true name was Mrs. Catherine Ludwig. She started her stage and vaudeville career with her husband, Joseph Price Ludwig, in 1890.
Kate's motion picture career began with the old Vitagraph studio in New York, New York in 1902. She acted with such motion picture stars as Flora Finch, Douglas Fairbanks, John Bunny, and Mary Pickford.
Kate went to Hollywood in 1917. She is perhaps best remembered for playing the role of Mrs. Kelly in the comedy series, the Cohens and the Kellys, made by Universal Pictures between 1926 and 1932. She had parts in The Sea Tiger (1927), The Godless Girl (1929), and Reaching for the Moon (1930). A most prolific performer, Miss Price participated in 285 films. She retired in 1937 after making Easy Living and Live, Love and Learn. Her final MGM feature was the 1934 film Have A Heart.
Kate Price died at the Motion Picture Country Home, Los Angeles, California in 1943 at the age of 70. Funeral services were held at St. Theresa's Church with interment in Calvary Cemetery.
