Kayla Sharland

Kayla Marie Sharland (born October 30, 1985 in Palmerston North) is a field hockey striker from New Zealand, who represented her native country at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. There she finished in sixth place with the Women's National Team. Sharland made her international senior debut for the Black Sticks in 2003 against Canada whilst still a pupil at Palmerston North Girls High School.
In a continuing effort to develop her game, Sharland travelled to Germany in 2005 for a stint with Mannheim, the National League club side coached by Germany national coach Markus Weise. She received specialist drag flick coaching while in Germany. Sharland has been nominated for the 2005 WorldHockey Junior Women’s Player of the Year.
