Ken Kowalski

Ken Reginald Kowalski, MLA was born September 27, 1945 in Bonnyville, Alberta is a politician and current Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. He is the longest serving member of the assembly, of current MLAs. He was elected in a 1979 by-election and has won all subsiquent provincial elections to date for the Progressive Concervative party of Alberta.
Prior to his long stint in public office, he was a teacher at Barrhead High School, and was a civil servant working for the Alberta government in the 1970's.
Kowalski has served some high profile positions in the past including Government House Leader from June 15, 1993 to December 15, 1993 and Deputy Premier from 1992 to 1994. He has served as speaker since 1997.
