In chess, C39 is the ECO code for the KGA, Allgaier & Kieseritzky Gambits chess opening. The game begins 1.e4 e5 2.f4 exf4 3.Nf3 g5 4.h4. Wilhelm Steinitz had a near perfect score with this opening as White, +17=2-1. The Allgaier Gambit continues 4....g4 5.Ng5 and the Kieseritzky, 4....g4 5.Ne5. White gets a huge lead in development for the pawn and sometimes sacrifices another. It's considered risky at best for White but Boris Spassky beat Bobby Fischer with it in Mar del Plata 1960.
