[edit] My take on "Think Global, Act Local"

Sincerely pray for world peace, and if possible, do something for world peace. This is the most selfish thing you can do, because it will have tremendous impact on your personal wellbeing. Read my blog at SoulCast on this topic.

http://www.soulcast.com/post/show/16428/Praying-for-world-peace-is-the-most-selfish-thing-you-can-do#

However, be centered - take care of yourself, your family and then take care of the world. http://relatethinkdo.blogspot.com/2006/08/stay-centered.html

[edit] What the Vedas say

The power of Adharma is such that anyone who inflicts pain on others will himself suffer from that pain.

Hurt never. If possible help others. Love all. Serve all. - Sai Baba

In Kali Yuga devotion through Nama Sankirtana (chanting the names of the Lord) is stated to be the only means for attainment of liberation.

The essence of Bhagavata Dharma highlights the efficacy of Bhakti that leads one to the divine presence. It offers the promise of liberation for all Jivatmas regardless of status, birth, learning, etc, the only requirement being sincere and genuine Bhakti to the Lord.

[edit] My personal life hack routine and important insight

MyLifeHackRoutine

1 Faith is the least path of resistance to success

1.1 Trust in Him, be Devoted to Him
1.1.1 God wants you to be happy
1.1.2 Human birth is meant to help others

2 Quantum Physics and Covey's 1 of 7 effective habits persuade you to be proactive about your destiny

2.1 To use the power of intentions to co-create a better future
2.1.1 Meditate every day to keep connection with God
2.1.2 Create your day every day

3 Execute like crazy

3.1 Relate, think, Do three level paradigm
3.2 Responsibility, Great ideas, good people, Charity

Insight Aug 7 2006

1 I can feel that God has great plans for the persona that is referred to as Ashok and that which dvelves inside the same body.

1.1 Things are not going smoothly if I indulge in distractions

2 It is all the more important that I maintain a stewardship mindset towards body and mind and spirit

2.1 this is not yours to enjoy; it is yours to focus on God and gain greater pleasures
2.2 Even if you feel unsafe about your product, you jump into the fire to save burns in the skin of Divya

3 I must be proactive and positive about my future

3.1 just use the power of intentions, and let God work his magic through you

[edit] Simpler approach to living

1. Start with self-esteem - appreciate the life you have been blessed with. Enjoy the ride - celebrate every moment of your life. The destination may have been the right one, you may have reached it with a lot of hardwork or easywork, but if you haven't stopped to smell the roses on the way, or have been anxiety ridden all along, then what is the point? One of the fundamental responsibilities for having won the HumanGeneticLottery is that you must live happily. Don't aim for happiness, but celebrate those moments of happiness that you gain as you succeed in attaining your goals, miestones that you have set for yourself.

2. Decide to become great at something. That "something" is the catch - what is your unique calling in life (which can be frustrating to find out, you may even be 40 by the time you really know, but that is not to worry). The enabling values here fearlessness and ambitious.

3. Persistently go about becoming great - this is the effort part - and this calls for dedication - you need to go at something for at least 10-15 years before you decide whether it is really the right thing. Most often, it is. Use the gift of intentions to manifest your goals in an effortlessly and mysterious manner.

[edit] Approach to Life (Version2.0)

Imagine

Imagine you can give your family all the money they need.
Imagine you can give your family all the time with you they need.
Imagine you will be seen as a respected leader in your community.
Imagine your students will like you.
Imagine your employees will work hard for you.
Imagine people are telling you that you are making a difference in their lives.
Imagine you can accomplish all you want.
This is not a daydream. This is a result of following the Action Principles.

Purpose-Driven, IntentionDriven, CelebrationDrivenApproach to Life

Time and again, I have repeatedly try to define a way of life, that is simple, clear and liberating. The way of life has to be empowering, inspirational enough to goad me into sustianed and spirited action. I have it this time. I think. There are three facets to living. Each of the following three facets have to be integrated within the individual. Experiences in each of these facets must be realized in a manner that is self-supporting, in a virtuous cycle. For example, while pursuing one's passion it is only natural that one feels insecure about financial goals. But then, using the gift of intentions one must be confident of achieving their individuals financial goals, while still pursuing and living out their passion. Above all, God is the source of strength and blessings for achieving aspirations in an effortless manner. The detached involvement mindset also is something that must be grasped well for one to be an effective human being. Efforts are yours. Results are not yours to decide. BeginAnyThingWithAClearIdeaOfTheEndinMind.

1. The ReasonForBeing Facet - identify your passion, and living it. The personal passion has to define a role for yourself at your workplace. For me, it is live out my ProviderDestiny, be the VisionPhilosopher to establish financial independece and entrepreneurial freedom to create meaningful careers for talent worldwide.

2. LiterallyManifestingYourIntentionsIntoReality - using the Quantum Field on a day-to-day basis to accelerate your goals into reality. Goals have to be defined. Daily routines have to be established. Discipline is key here as well. The key thing to this facet is believing the fact that quantum physics puts the responsibility of your destiny squarely in your own lap, and nowhere else.

3. CelebratingLife - As you go about wrestling with the reason for your existence, and believing in the quantum field and your personal responsibility for your own destiny, celebrate the gift of Human Life. Enjoy all that has been given to you already. Don't regret for tomorrow. Stop to smell the roses. Come alive irrespective of whether you are living your passion or having trouble manifesting the reality that you desire. Help ever, hurt never. Love all, serve all. Strive for devotion to God (would you rather be happy or be right? statistics has proven that there is a direct correlation between happiness and religiousness/spirituality). Develop intense Bhakti and believe it is your only authentic tool for liberation from the cycle of human birth. Living in the Present - Enjoy the moment...

I look back (standing on June 2006), at the eve of signing off Bosch's 2nd phase of 120000 space requirement, and ask the question: What is the one thing I would like to change about the past 10 years of participating in building KGISL? I never knew that we would make it, and would make it in style and good share of success. I only wish I was not so paranoid about achieving business success, and had truly enjoyed the journey so far...And that is why Point 3 is so important, balancing between the various things in life, including spending time for yourself (enjoy yourself)... and celebrating your success, and appreciating whatever it is you have... ---

Sriman narayana saranam saranam prabathiyae, Srimathe Narayanaya Namah!

Approach to Business Thinking 1. Hardball strategies are required to ensure that we are the best in the competition. 2. We have to hustle - first we think the market is the constraint, then we complain that we don't have the capacity...then we think it is not worth the risk... 3. Innovation is key, off course, after building competency...it is important to be innovative to ensure we are the cost and quality and performance leader in the market. At the end of the day, I kind of believe what something Dhamodaraswamy (Ellen) said - business all depends upon good people joining your company. And for that you need whatever it takes. A lot of luck? Sridhar was drawn to me because he saw that I was a CoScience person, and that he could convince me to do something in computer business. Fair enough. He automatically assumed that Computers was my passion, which was true. He also assumed that I was a good man. Goodness is important to create that luck. Hardwork is important to create the luck to draw people to you. Luck favours those who work hard, and work smart. Providence Help - creates luck - as synergy. Prof. Venkat Rangan has shared with us that "Ask for God's help, and your efforts will result in manifold benefits" 1 = 3 ...proportionate... You create the right ambience, the right environment for good people to join you when you are Good, True to your passion, Work hard at it, and believe in Providence creating more support for you. To do all this, RFB is useful - in an iterative process, define an RFB states to the world what your passion is, and that you are committed to "hardwork" because it comes effortlessly, and that is what you want Providence to stand with you with all His strength and blessings.

In summary, Success in Business is a result of Good people, Stretch Goals and Flawless Execution (involving hustling, innovation, hardball tactics), all coming together. At one level, the RFB results in improving the current team member's goodness, hardwork, and Godly backing... This results in attracting GoodPeople (RFB). BeginWithTheEndInMind (Big hairy audacious goals are what excites people, so put that in place) will set in place stretch Goals - LivingInThePresent...Hustling, etc will ensure Execution takes place.

[edit] The One Thing you need to know

"You need to learn to listen to the whispers in your life...and manage them."

  — Author Po Bronson

"For success you need three things: A worthy vision, persistent effort and God's grace"

  - Mata Amritanandamayi

"If God were to ask me the one thing that I wanted, would ask for the devoted mind to think of Him constantly."

  - Ashok GB

If Markus Buckingham's research is to be assumed to be true, Individual success (which is the basis on which family and business success can be effectively built, including leadership and management)will come when you stop doing the things that you don't like. This will happen when you are doing and only doing what you are supposed to do. If you don't want to go on a trial-and-error basis to figure this out, surrender to God's will - that is the effortless route to individual success.

This is probably what Dr GB always talk about a God's Formula. "You may have a formula, I may have a formula, but what will finally work out is God's Formula. So, let's meet and see what happens". I have heard him say this so many times...

How do you realize God's will? By becoming good at listening to the whispers in your life. Meditation, mantra, and music will calm your mind to listen with the greatest clarity. Sometimes, it means to go with the flow? Sometimes, it means to step on it, and drive through with great persistence using your self-discipline.

If God were to ask me the one thing that I wanted, I would ask for the devoted mind to think of Him constantly. (PERSONAL)

If God were to ask me one skill that I wanted, I would ask for the ability to see what others cannot see. (BUSINESS)

THE LAW OF THE FEW

There are exceptional people out there who are capable of starting epidemics. All you have to do is find them. With an epidemic, a tiny majority of the people do the work. Once critical factor in epidemics is the nature of the messenger. Messengers make something spread. Word of mouth is still the most important form of human communication. Rumors are the most contagious of all social messages. Connectors

  1. People with a special gift for bringing the world together, people specialists
  2. Know lots of people
  3. Have an extraordinary knack of making friends and acquaintances, making social connections.
  4. Have mastered the "weak tie"; a friendly, yet casual social connection.
  5. Manage to occupy many different worlds and subcultures and niches. By having a foot in so many different worlds, they have the effect of bringing them all together.
  6. Acquaintances represent a source of social power, and the more acquaintances you have the more powerful you are.
  7. Social glue: they spread the message
     Mavens
         * Information specialists
         * Once they figure out how to get that great deal, they want to tell you about it too.
         * Solves his own problems, his own emotional needs, by solving other people's problems.
         * Have knowledge and the social skills to start word-of-mouth epidemics.
         * A teacher and a student
         * In a social epidemic, Mavens are data banks. They provide the message.

     Salespeople
         * Have the skills to persuade when we are unconvinced of what we are hearing.
         * Little things can make as much of a difference as big things.
         * Gives nonverbal clues that are more important than verbal clues.
            1. "Interactional synchrony": human interaction has a rhythmic physical dimension. We dance to each other's speechwe're perfectly in harmony.
            2. Motor mimicry: we imitate each other's emotions as a way of expressing support and caring and, even more basically, as a way of communicating with each other. Emotion is contagious. "Senders" are very good at expressing emotions and feelings. They are far more emotionally contagious than the rest of us.
         * Persuasion often works in ways that we do not appreciate
         * You draw others into your own rhythms and dictate the terms of the interaction.

[edit] Greatest Dad - Rara avis

(rara avis \RAIR-uh-AY-vis\, noun;

plural rara avises \RAIR-uh-AY-vuh-suhz\ or rarae aves
 \RAIR-ee-AY-veez\:

A rare or unique person or thing.

Life grants nothing to us mortals without hard work. - Horace

Dr GB believes God has given him this award. There is a tremendous amount of Truth in this. Through Dr GB, God is reminding us we have such a simple yet elegant example of a GREAT man whom we have in our midst as a role model, from whom we can draw upon tremendous inspiration and motivation from.

Key factors for Dr GB's success are:

1. There is Power in Action - regardless of what the problem might be, he may not know what the solution might be, by constantly banging at it, and as long as you don't give in, the other side (be it a wall or whatever the difficulty) will give in.

2. Constantly Learning - he is genuinely interested in meeting people who have attained a certain status, a certain position of spirituality, excellence, power or fame. His child-like and almost naive enthusiasm and hope that somehow by being in their vicinity, some of their qualities will rub off of him and he will benefit from it. He reads a copious amount each day and probably buys more books than he will ever read in his lifetime. Maybe he magically believes that by just having a great book in his bookshelf it will automatically enter into his psyche - and probably does. He sincerely believes in himself as a phenomenon, and like all Great Men, he has the humility in him to express that "If he can do it, anybody can do it". His enthusiasm to learn is only matched by his OWN enthusiasm, and that is the enthusiasm to change people for their own betterment.

Sometimes, I have seen these two factors - Action and Learning - combine together within a short period of time and it is literally DYNAMITE.

3. His Wow! Personality (Know Your Strengths book) Woo

Woo stands for winning others over. You enjoy the challenge of meeting new people and getting them to like you. Strangers are rarely intimidating to you. On the contrary, strangers can be energizing .You are drawn to them. You want to learn their names, ask them questions, and find some area of common interest so that you can strike up a conversation and build rapport. Some people shy away from starting up conversations because they worry about running out of things to say. You don’t. Not only are you rarely at a loss for words, but you actually enjoy initiating with strangers because you derive satisfaction from breaking the ice and making a connection. Once that connection is made, you are quite happy to wrap it up and move on. There are new people to meet, new rooms to work, new crowds to mingle in. In your world there are no strangers, only friends you haven’t met yet –lots of them.

Woo sounds like this:

Deborah C., publishing executive: “I have made best friends out of people that I have met passing in the doorway .I mean it’s awful, but wooing is part of who I am. All my taxi drivers propose to me.”

Marilyn K., College president: “I don’t believe I ‘m looking for friends, but people call me a friend .I call people and say,’ I love you,’ and I mean it because I love people easily. But friends? I don’t have many friends. I don’t think I am looking for friends. I am looking for connections. And I am really good at that because I know how to achieve common ground with people.”

Anna G.nurse: “ I think I am a little shy sometimes. Usually I won’t make the first step out. But I do know how people at ease .A lot of my job is just humor. If the patient is not very receptive, my role becomes a stand-up comedian. I’ll say to an eighty-year-old patient, ‘Hi you handsome guy. Sit up. Let me get your shirt off. That’s good. Take your shirt off. Whoa, what a chest on this man!’ With kids you have to start very slowly and say something like ‘how old are you?’ If they say ‘ten,’ then you say, ‘Really? When I was your age, I was eleven’ – silly stuff like that to break the ice.”

Using this, we can create a Tipping Point phenomenon to sell things whatever we want...

[edit] What am I destined for?

Abundance is your Birthright, Greatness is your Destiny, You are the Leader people have been looking for, You Deserve it all!

Provider Destiny Ashok, your destiny is to be a Provider. Whether you know it or not, this is the role that is most in tune with who you are at your core. As a Provider, you have a genuine nurturing concern for the welfare of others and you're eager to serve them. You can recognize exactly what people need and your friendly, helpful, social nature makes them feel comforted. With your kind and generous heart, you are personable, talkative, and outward with your emotions, and your openness and sensitivity makes you concerned about the way others view you. Along these lines, be careful not to blame yourself when things go wrong. You cannot prevent bad things from happening, even though your tendency to be orderly with a strong sense of right and wrong may lead you to believe you can. Accept that you do what you can to take care of things and that this will get you far in the world.

Provider of finances to fund the vision of my companies; provider of opportunities for people to lead sustainable balanced lifestyles

[edit] What to focus on? Why?

Do something that can help you achieve all the three goals you have in mind - this way, you hit three things at the same time.

Meditation - time to be set for this...regularly at the same time Time and Personal Discipline (physical-70Kg, emotional-no anger, no distractions, no wastage, prayer, chanting, water, breathe, strectch) - role model for Advik (family), for coordination with your team at work (business), you will also spend time in meditation and prayers (Personal) Goal management - get things done in all areas

[edit] Me - LAAFR, Provider Destiny, Visionary Philosopher

Learning (amount of browsing I do?), Achiever (I persist with squash), Analyzer, Futuristic, Responsibility. I want to Learn, and I want to Achieve something.

But then, like Po Bronson says, you can't analyze your way to success. You have to listen to your inner voice to guide you to your real calling.

I like taking a concept, learning and understanding about it, and how it can be applied to solve a problem or challenge. Then, I enjoy telling the story of how someone can benefit from it. This is a sales job and marketing job?

Ashok - The Sanskrit word that means the "negation of sorrow". I used to think that it is not exactly a positive name to have. But then, if you really think about it, it is practical, for it is very difficult to be happy in life all the time. But, you can choose not to feel negative at all regardless of whether you are facing challenges or failures in life.

Fundamental question on top of my mind:

Self-esteem->Appreciation->Thankfulness->Positivity->Responsibility->Passion->Sustainability->Contribution->Celebration

We make certain presumptions about how the world works, and then make decisions guided by those presumptions. Well, it all goes wrong when those basic presumptions are inaccurate. Those are presumptions more about how we want the world to work, rather than how it actually does. Here are four wrong presumptions, which we have wrongly accepted as true:

(1) That money is the shortest route to freedom. (Money doesn't fund dreams)

(2) That we can think (or analyze) our way to an answer of where we belong. (SMARTS can't answer the question)

(3) That we are autonomous from the environment that surrounds us. (PLACE Defines You)

(4) That our biggest obstacles are external, rather than internal. (ATTITUDE is the Biggest Obstacle)

Po Bronson is advocating that we listen to the silent voice from inside in deciding what is to be done. Meditation, Prayer, Satsang, Imagination->Dreams and Intuition??? are the keys to Effortless Successful purposeful Living. We must take time to Listen, muster the Courage to take the right path to fulfill your Dreams, the Discipline to persist with it, and the Egoless Humility to stick to it through success and failure.

Success (or Greatness) is about Achievement, Happiness, Significance and leaving a Legacy, and juggling all the four without dropping any one of them.

Fundamental skill:

[edit] Simple Living. High Thinking. Happiness/Success is Yours.

Simple Living Simplify your life. Detached involvement, discipline of habits are important values to achieve this. High Thinking Know your strengths. Manage around your weaknesses. Aim for Greatness. Achieve your unique purpose in life. This should dominate your thought process. Happiness/Success is Yours Commit wholeheartedly to the above, and success is instantaneous the moment you do it! Affirmations are very useful. Begin to (pause) sincerely appreciating what you already have. Magnetize your heart with that good feeling for more blessings to follow. You deserve it all!

[edit] Goal-Free Living?

Self-esteem->Appreciation->Positivity->Responsibility->Overcome_problems_challenges->Passion->Networking_with_others->Sustainability-> Contribution->Celebration

Goal-free living must not be mistaken as a license to adopt a care-free approach to living. To be born as a human is a blessing. Along with the blessing come responsibilities, including that of creating a sustainable simple living for oneself and her dependants. Become alive and strive to unearth your hidden talents and use them to make a unique contribution to the World. Enjoy the journey and learn to celebrate every second of your life.

Unless you set time-bound goals, you very rarely get an objective assessment of how you have fared in your attempt to make that unique contribution. Goals, in that sense, are a means to an end. A more pragmatic and seemingly dark perspective is as follows: If you really think hard and deep and smart, you will realize that the whole Existence is nothing but a big cosmic joke, and your life is just a small part of the Big Delusion. Smokers sometimes light a cigarette just to feel good that they have set a “goal” and taken it through completion. Similarly, goal-setting exercises are useful in creating a diversion for the mind that has been sucked into the mind-boggling blackhole of True Enquiry.

Everyone has their own set of problems, including the most happiest man you believe to be alive on earth. Overcoming them will give you new strengths and insights into your talents. Learn from it and grow.

[edit] Approach to Life

Focus on Goals (Destination) Find and pursue the highest goal that gives your life an overarching sense of purpose and meaning. Move beyond passion and success. It helps to be focused in life. The delusion of life becomes unbearable if you don't have a focus. Some focus is better than no focus. . Once you sense momentum towards achieving that focus, start introspecting whether you can have a better focus in life. Balanced focus is achieved by having realistic goals in the multiple roles that one has to play in Life.

Rules of Life (Nature of the Journey) Find reasons to sincerely appreciate the life you have been given to you by God. This should put you in the right frame of mind to bring joy into your life instantanteously. Be passionate about something and commit to it wholeheartedly. While you get prepared to take action, don't procrastinate or take half-measures by getting anxious about the results. Believe it or not, everyone has been given their share of problems and challenges that has to be surmounted. Feel The Fear and Do It Anyway. God has given us the necessary talents and skills to overcome them as well. Just do it. When you do it, you bring value into the world, and everyone is better of for it. You are destined for your own unique greatness. Go for it!

Celebrate as you go (Enjoy the Journey) This is difficult to grasp in the first iteration. But, the more you dvelve on it, you realize that this is the most important thing in life. Share whatever you have in life with others. The whole world is yours. Listen and connect to your inner voice and other people in your life by chanting, meditating, prayer and satsang.

[edit] Attitude determines your Altitude

Appreciation Get yourself into a good frame of mind. Chanting helps. Sincerely appreciate what has been given to you. Wrap your hands around the unique set of problems and challenges you have been presented with. God has given you the talents to deal with them and overcome them. Become a master of yourself. Passion Using your unique combination of strengths and talents, focus on your passion and live it. That is your unique contribution to the world. Egoless Action Avoid FUD, anger, procrastination and indecisiveness. Take concerted action. Manage your time effectively. You are responsible for committed action. Don't judge yourself by the results that you create. Laugh and celebrate each and every moment of your life. Be Here Now.

Value does not come until you can bring more to the table than what already exists. Strategy defines where you want to play, which industry and which segment. Value comes because of better marketing (matching customer's needs to what we have) and innovation (more creative keeping in mind new development and strategies and realities and trends).

You are driven to do this, only if you have passion for the purpose of the organisation. Out of passion comes the increased energy that you channel into marketing/innovation to deliver products or services or solutions that will eventually deliver value to the customer through the business.

To Grow Profitably keeping in mind the Philosophy of business

[edit] Spirituality

Of the 33 million Gods in the Hindu pantheon, none is so widely loved and revered as Lord Ganesha. This friendly and slightly chubby pachyderm has found a place under every village tree and in every Hindu heart, home and temple around the world. Among one-sixth of the earth's inhabitants, no other deity is so popular, so frequently praised and prayed to. His giant belly is metaphysically said to contain the entire cosmos and His left hand holds the sweetest of all delights, Spiritual Liberation. Lord Ganesha is Protector and Confidant for Hindus, Generous Boon-Giver, Remover of Obstacles, Champion of Virtue and Gentle Guide through life's ups and downs. He is considered Good Fortune manifest. Time embodied and Abundance overflowing. In fact, there are 1008 names to describe His vastness and divine skills.

Lord Ganesha is there to steady our minds and open the proper doors as we evolve and progress. Worship of Lord Ganesha is immediate; one has but to think of His form to contact Him. Close your eyes for a second, visualize His murthi or form and a direct communication has immediately begun. All information and answers to every question are now available. Wherever we are, whatever we are doing, we can use the computer terminal of our brain and code in the divine image of Lord Ganesha and have complete access to His grand computer mind which has been programmed over eons of time and naturally encompasses the intricacies of the universe in all their ramifications and simplicities.

Our Lord Ganesha sits upon the Muladhara Chakra. This chakra controls the forces of memory. Worship of Him strengthens your memory and brings knowledge from within. Look into His eyes. Carefully visualize the large head. His trunk, the full body and each object that He holds. Train yourself to see Him within your mind with your eyes closed. This is the key. Hold His form steady in your mind with the power of visualization. Now you can talk to Him. He is listening. No, He will not speak back. Simply put all of your questions and your problems at His Feet, then open your eyes. Wherever you are remember this and, as a good Hindu, exercise this siddha. Through the day and the days to come, you will notice how He answers questions and solves problems through the course of your daily life, influencing events and decisions slowly and subtly, in an unseen way. Situations will change, unexpected doors will open while accustomed ones will close as you are propelled through His grace toward your inevitable glorious future.

[edit] Quotes

"Wanting a dream that takes you away from your family is selfish and irresponsible, but wanting to be your best self so you can by fulfilled, be a great role model for your children, and a source of joy for those around you is not selfish — it's part of doing God's work."

  - Po Bronson

'If you know where it's going, it's not worth doing'

  - Frank Gehry

The secret of discipline is motivation. When a man is sufficiently motivated, discipline will take care of itself.

  - Sir Alexander Paterson

Get in. Not choose, but get in. Be part of it, then move up. I've always had that feeling about things. And it upsets me so much when people want to get into something but are just too darn choosy about what they want to do. Get in while you have a chance to at least look and see, and out of it might come something.

  - Walt Disney

Somehow I cannot believe that there are many heights that cannot be scaled by a man who knows the secret of making dreams come true. This special secret it seems to me can be summarized in four C's: they are curiosity, confidence, courage and consistency. And the greatest of these are confidence. When you believe a thing, believe it all over, implicitly and unquestionably.

  - Walt Disney
Money is something I understand only vaguely, and think about it only when I don't have enough to finance my current enthusiasm, whatever it may be. All I know about money is that I have to have it to do things. I don't want to bank my dividends, I'd rather keep my money working. I regard it as a moral obligation to pay back borrowed money. When I make a profit, I don't squander it or hide it away; I immediately plow it back into a fresh project. I have little respect for money as such; I regard it merely as a medium for financing new ideas. I neither wish nor intend to amass a personal fortune. Money--or, rather the lack of it to carry out my ideas--may worry me, but it does not excite me. Ideas excite me.
  - Walt Disney

The talent myth assumes that people make organizations smart. More often than not, it's the other way around.

  — Malcolm Gladwell

Life is difficult, so it seems. Let me not try and dissuade you otherwise, because your circumstances maybe quite different than mine. However, this much I know: the solutions to effortless living are disarmingly simple. To each his own. The more the solution is simple, the more it is elegant, holistic and powerful.

   - Ashok GB

"At some point, you will make the journey of 15 trillion light years to the edge of the universe and leave your ego there."

The big secret in life is that there is no big secret. Whatever your goal, you can get there if you’re willing to work. - Oprah Winfrey

He who postpones the hour of living rightly is like the rustic who waits for the river to run out before he crosses. -Horace (on why we have to live a morally perfect life)

If you are open to the possibility, your life can be bolder, bigger, grander - Oprah Winfrey

What are the 4-minute (barriers) that are holding you back from achieving what you want?

"The more I want to get something done, the less I call it work." Richard Bach

Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “Press On” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race. - Calvin Coolidge

They who lack talent expect things to happen without effort. They ascribe failure to a lack of inspiration or ability, or to misfortune, rather than to insufficient application. At the core of every true talent there is an awareness of the difficulties inherent in any achievement, and the confidence that by persistence and patience something worthwhile will be realized. Thus talent is a species of vigor. - Eric Hoffer

Life grants nothing to us mortals without hard work. - Horace

Too many of us wait to do the perfect thing, with the result we do nothing. The way to get ahead is to start now. While many of us are waiting until conditions are “just right” before we go ahead, others are stumbling along, fortunately ignorant of the dangers that beset them. By the time we are, in our superior wisdom, decided to make a start, we discover that those who have gone fearlessly on before, have, in their blundering way, traveled a considerable distance. If you start now, you will know a lot next year that you don’t know now, and that you will not know next year, if you wait. - The William Feather Magazine

"What your mind can conceive, you can achieve"

"A leader of men must make decisions quickly...be a fighter...speak openly, plainly, frankly...co-operate, co-ordinate, work with active faith...be loyal, true, faithful...have a high, intelligent, worthy purpose and ideal." - Dodge, Author.

"The level of Krishna, Buddha, and Jesus. Even just thinking about people at this level can raise your consciousness." - Very powerful. Thanks, Steve.

I have been told incidents of individuals who have experienced permanent "elevation" in their consciousness when they had the first darshan (view) of an authentic Guru as far as 50-100 feet.

Transformation was real. Avid non-vegetarians till that very moment began to shun meat from thereon, etc. These individuals neither came with any intention to be transformed nor had any expectations. No coercion, no mind tricks. Simple yet powerful tranformation.

"The difference between success and mediocrity is psychology. Greatness starts with thinking that you are capable of greatness on a consistent basis by managing your state of mind. The rest will automatically follow." - Ashok GB

It is an immutable law in business that words are words, explanations are explanations, promises are promises, but only performance is reality. -Harold S. Geneen

"Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength." - Arnold Schwarzenegger

Take an active part in your own life's story. Make a commitment to making changes and take an action today. It's not going to happen magically, but when it happens, it will be magical!

On God "Develop an intense yearning for God" - Sri Ramakrishna

Place your burden At the feet of the Lord of the Universe who accomplishes everything. Remain all the time steadfast in the heart, In the Transcendental Absolute. God knows the past, present, and future. He will determine the future for you and accomplish the work. What is to be done will be done at the proper time. Don’t worry. Abide in the heart and surrender your acts to the divine.

 - Ramana Maharishi

On Opportunities "You get your share of opportunities in this life. It is your responsibility to be ready to grab them and step up to the next level" - taxi driver, Bangalore

"Keeping a little ahead of conditions is one of the secrets of business, the trailer seldom goes far." - Charles Schwab

"Don't work for my happiness, my brothers -— show me yours -— show me that it possible -— show me your achievement -— and the knowledge will give me courage for mine."" — Ayn Rand

COURAGE "Courage - the first of human qualities . . . because it guarantees all the others." - Winston Churchill

"(When considering a life change), we let our fears govern our decisions. Rather than challenging the validity of those fears, we accept the boundaries set by those fears, and end up confining our search to a narrow range of possibilities, like the guy looking for his car keys under the streetlight because he’s afraid of the dark." - Po Bronson

Real courage: The courage to follow your dreams, even in the face of not fully knowing what the dream is.

On how to think "Think the same thoughts as the most effective, successful and happy people, and you'll get exactly the same results in your life. (I think therefore I am - ittiam) "

Marcus Aurelius: Quotations on Happiness The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts... take care that you entertain no notions unsuitable to virtue and reasonable nature.

Cook up a life that works for you. Everyone is different. Take what you think will work best for you and ignore the rest. But before tossing anything out, really try it on, just as you would a jacket in a clothing store. Observing anything on its hanger is rarely indicative of how it will look on you. Only by trying it on and wearing it for a while can you truly tell if it fits. The nine lessons, when used in a way that suits you, will help lead to an extraordinary life.

"Krishna's message to Arjuna was not to give up his position as a warrior and go meditate in the woods, but to fulfil his purpose here in the material world. Go ahead and achieve what you have to, be the best of what you can be, but at the same time, don't neglect your spiritual life." - Alfred Ford
