Khamgaon is an industrial town and a tehsil in the Buldhana district of Maharashtra, India.

Khamgaon is located at 20.68° N 76.57° E[1]. It has an average elevation of 323 metres (1059 feet).

It is connected by Central Railway to Jalamb Junction with single electric line. It lies on National highways No 6.

As of 2001 India censusGRIndia, Khamgaon had a population of 88,670. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Khamgaon has an average literacy rate of 76%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 81%, and female literacy is 71%. In Khamgaon, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Khamgaon is the most important cotton ginning market in Buldhana district. MIDC Khamgaon (Khamgaon Industrial Area) is situated 5 km away from the Khamgaon town. The only Pears Soap plant of Hidustan Lever Ltd and Vardhan Syntex, a Aditya Birla Group Company are situated at MIDC.

Khangaon is a Sub-Division of Buldhana district and consist of Shegaon and Khamgaon tehsils.

Khamgaon tehsil has 132 villages. The area of the tehsil is 998.37 km2. Khamgaon Tehsil has its location as 19°51’ to 21°17’ North latitude and 75°57’ to 77°49’ East Longitude and has population of around 2, 18,000 [2]
