"Kids in America" is a 1981 song performed by Kim Wilde. It was written by Ricky and Marty Wilde. It appears on her 1981 debut album, Kim Wilde, and was also released as her debut single. It reached number two in the UK singles charts, and was a top 25 hit in the US the following year.

The B-side of the single was her song "Tuning In, Tuning On."
A remix of "Kids in America" appeared in 1994 as the third single taken from the compilation album The Singles Collection 1981-1993. There was also a remix included on the 2001 compilation The Very Best of Kim Wilde.

Charlotte Hatherley, Hiddys, Kim-Lian, Lagwagon, Lawnmower Deth, Len, Lyane Leigh, Marsha, Mini-Pops, Mona Carita (in Finnish as "Kaupungin lapset"), Morella's Forest, The Muffs, Naked Aggression, Nirvana, No Secrets, Orange Sector, Pennywise, Sex Appeal, Shebang, Strawberry Slaughterhouse, Sugar Beats, Terremoto Party, Tiktak (in Finnish as "Kaupungin lapset"), Toy Dolls, Sarah Walker, The Young Knives and Wynona Riders. Also, on Disney Channel the Jonas Brothers recorded a song on Hollywood Records called Kids of the Future, which is to be released on the Meet The Robinsons soundtrack.

The song includes the lyric "From New York to east California," which, while not completely nonsensical, alludes to an area of California dominated primarily by the Mojave Desert. The lyric is frequently changed in remakes of the song.
Featured in the 2002 PlayStation 2 videogame Grand Theft Auto: Vice City as part of the New Wave radio station Wave 103.
Also featured in the 2004 videogame, Dance Dance Revolution EXTREME (North America), along with its music video as a fully playable song.
The song was featured in an American Idol Season 5 Ford commercial. The top seven contestants were regarded as the "Kids in America" and brought music advertisements to life. Taylor Hicks and Elliott Yamin were on 8" x 11" paper fliers; and Kellie Pickler, Chris Daughtry, Katharine McPhee, Paris Bennett and Ace Young were on the billboards.
The Canadian group Len covers the song, which appears in the soundtrack for the movie Digimon: The Movie in 2000.
