[edit] Additional information
Some of the songs in the game for example, "Scherzo Di Notte", were derived from the soundtrack of Kingdom Hearts but with new arrangements. The artwork for the soundtrack was designed by Tetsuya Nomura. The soundtrack includes two vocal songs, Passion ~opening version~ and Passion ~after the battle~ which is a slower version of the opening. Both are sung, written and set to tunes by J-Pop singer, Utada Hikaru. Other vocal songs are Swim This Way, Part of Your World, Under the Sea, Ursula's Revenge, and A New Day is Dawning; however, these songs are given improper credits and the singers are not listed. Like the prequel, the game also has the "One-Winged Angel" track from Final Fantasy VII composed by Nobuo Uematsu with new arrangements by Yoko Shimomura used during the battle with Sephiroth, but this time it is featured on the soundtrack CDs, unlike on the prequel's CDs.
Although improperly credited, it can be speculated that KAZCO (or Kazco Hamano), former chorus singer for the band Do As Infinity, provided some of the chorus parts for the vocal songs from the Atlantica world. Her name is listed in the ending credits of Kingdom Hearts II and also in the special thanks section in the OST booklet.
The soundtrack also credits the Disney music composers for the Disney based music taken whom are
- Jimmie Dodd for the song Mickey Mouse Club March
- Robert B. Sherman & Richard M. Sherman for the song Winnie The Pooh
- Danny Elfman for the song This is Halloween
- Geoff Zanelli, Klaus Badelt & Hans Zimmer for the song He's a Pirate
- Alan Menken for the songs Under the Sea, Part of Your World (both from the 1988 film "The Little Mermaid") and Beauty and The Beast
The ending credits of the North American version of the game credits the same music composers for additional songs in the game. They are:
- Robert B. Sherman & Richard M. Sherman for the song The Wonderful Thing About Tiggers and Whoop-De-Dooper Bounce.
- The Kingdom Hearts II OST also won "Best Soundtrack" in G4's 2006 video game awards.
