The Kingdom of Poland was the Polish state in the years between the coronation of Bolesław I the Brave in 1025 and the death of Bolesław III the Wrymouth in 1138. The legal basis for the existence of this Christian kingdom was established in 1000 during the Congress of Gniezno, when Poland was recognized as the state by Holy Roman Empire and the Pope. During this time, Poland was ruled by the following kings and dukes:
- Boleslaus I the Brave
- Mieszko II Lambert
- Bezprym
- Casimir I the Restorer
- Boleslaus II the Generous
- Wladislaus I Herman
- Zbigniew
- Boleslaus III the Wrymouth
- The official language: Latin (written), Polish (spoken)
- Capital: Gniezno and Kraków
- The political system: the military dictatorship, where the king was supposed to respect traditional customs of people.
- The inheritance rule: all sons of the King have equal rights to the throne (the stronger becomes the king).
