[edit] Piet J. Kroonenberg
Hi Chris, I say, that picture you 'created' and gave to the public domain? You can't do it like that, man! Wim van Dorst (Talk) 20:22, 2 October 2006 (UTC).
- I kind of figured I shouldn't, though I trimmed off the edges for the 'pedia. What should I do? Thanks, and I meant no ill intent. Chris 20:40, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
- Interesting changes, Chris. VERY recognizable text, but nearly all correct. I wondered about the copyright attribution: isn't the picture made by/for the Russian Union of Scouts organization, on the celebration of the beaver award for Kroonenberg? I'd suggest a small update there. And the rationale reference in the article itself is still to be done. BTW, did you really contact the WOSM? Would be a good idea. Send an email to Victor Ortega (vortega@world.scout.org (the PR guy) and ask him! Wim van Dorst (Talk) 22:09, 3 October 2006 (UTC).
If you think you are being harrassed for your dodgy copyright attributions (beyond what is legitimate) just drop a line at one of the admins. There's one on the WP:Scout participants list (Randy pointed it out recently on some talk page). Wim van Dorst (Talk) 23:19, 16 October 2006 (UTC).
[edit] Image Commies?
You'll have to explain "Image Commies". My thoughts are that the Hepburn image is not only referenced in the article, but is the foremost image brought to mind when the old formal style of smoking is mentioned.

[edit] Image:Elkhorn.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Elkhorn.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a free image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Important P.S. If the photographer is willing to license the image under the GFDL, then we can keep the image. Please let me know if this is the case.
- I have re-tagged the image to Copyrighted/NoRightsReserved, as verbally indicated by the uploader, and as indicated by the quoted text of the author. Issue resolved. Wim van Dorst (Talk) 12:40, 22 October 2006 (UTC).

[edit] Scott Market
Thanks for your reply. I thought I had been told it was not named after James George Scott but some other Scott; and J. G. Scott was never an administrator in Rangoon or Lower Burma, so I can't see why it should have been named after him (though indeed he was a schoolmaster there in his youth, and it is true that he introduced football there!) However, if I was told this about the market, it was a long time ago, and I now need to check it. Wish me luck ... Andrew Dalby 22:26, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Franceneuterao.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Franceneuterao.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

[edit] Template:IntlScoutsGuides
Re [1] edit summary: :) I regularly leave things in a visually questionable state when removing fair use image violations. Trying to find visually acceptable replacements or creating visually acceptable variations on templates is generally time consuming and I am a poor substitute for someone who has an interest in the particular template in question, such as you in this case. Perhaps you could have found acceptable free-license substitutes...I don't know. For me to make that decision, a person who has little or no knowledge of the subject of the template, is not the best of ideas. Related, you might want to see User:Durin/Removal_of_fair_use_images#Why_didn.27t_you_replace_the_image_with_something_usable.3F. All the best, --Durin 22:21, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Laszlonagycarlgusta.jpg
![]() |
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Laszlonagycarlgusta.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Apology for your treatment at the Girl Scout Office
I'm sorry on behalf of my sister Girl Scouts and Girl Guides for your reception at your local Girl Scout Office when you enquired about materials about Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting around the world. I don't want to make assumptions about what country you were in at the time, so I can't tell you exactly what they should have said. The most well-known publication on this subject is Trefoil Around the World. It's in English and is published by WAGGGS both as a book and a CD-ROM. I know it is available in several countries, if not all where English spoken. Some of this information is reproduced on the web, when you know where to look, for example at the GSUSA website. A lot of handbooks and leader's resources have information on international matters too, although these are inevitably not comprehensive. I'm sad that you weren't helped more effectively. [edit] Image upload
Hi Chris, did you read my comment on Talk:List of highest awards in Scouting#Images?
- I know that these badges are part of your collection. Perhaps my question was badly formulated: The images need a good description mentioning at least the title of the rank and the association to make the use of the images easier. I'm sure you have these data. Could you please insert it on the images' pages? WP:UPIMAGE#Mini HowTo proposes Template:Information for this purpose. --jergen 08:39, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
And some time ago, I wrote something on captions...
Please include at least the association and the rank's name on the image description. If you don't I'll remove these images from the articles because they are not of use for understanding the article. Two examples of misplaced or badly used images [2], [3]. --jergen 08:27, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Myanma diplomatic missions
G'day Chris:
Glad you are an Australophile. It will make my job easier, coz I hate reprobating people during the Chrissie period.
You recently proposed merging the Myanma diplomatic missions article into Foreign relations of Myanmar. Nothing wrong with proposing that idea, except you just went ahead and did it before getting your mandate, or even understanding the nature of these articles.
Please be advised there are two kinds of foreign policy by country articles. We have for almost every country a Foreign Relations of X article (eg Foreign relations of Uganda), which describes that country's foreign policies and issues. And we have a less prose-y X Diplomatic Missions (eg Ugandan diplomatic missions) which just lists where a country's embassies and consulates are located.
If you think merging them together is a good idea, please get a consensus first, although I don't think people will want to reformat over 250 articles to make it consistent with your suggestion.
In the meantime kindly revert back the former Myanma diplomatic missions article.
Thank you,
Kransky 05:49, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

- Chris:
I removed the redirect from Myanma diplomatic missions and cut-'n'-pasted the contents from I wrote that you copied into Foreign relations of Myanmar back into ::Myanma diplomatic missions. So Foreign relations of Myanmar remains unchanged, except that I added a link to Myanma diplomatic missions in the "See also" section. Vegemite? I hate the stuff. I heard that it was being banned in the United states over some FDA issue. Have a great new year. Kransky 04:29, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia style dictates that places are named according to how those who govern the place call it. For example we have the article Republic of Macedonia because the Macedonians identify themselves with this nationality, even though the international community calls it the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to comply with Greek sensitivities (the Wikipedia article for Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and FYROM send you to Republic of Macedonia). This is no reflection on the moral authority of the junta; it is only done to establish consistency. If the Myanma leaders want to rename their country Buttercupland so be it. Can we leave it as Myanma diplomatic missions please, like Myanma kyat (See Wikipedia:Naming_conflict)

[edit] Police patch collecting
Sounds like a good move, so we can expand the article to include all sorts of things, do you want me to move it for you or are you okay to do it? SGGH 11:09, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
I am the original poster of the article. I am new to this forum and admit my first attempt at posting here may have needed some advise or correction. I am NOT a professional wiki.
The above being said, I would rather the whole article be removed than have it altered and vandalized to the extent you folks have done which gives it significantly different meaning. You could have added your information as new information without ruining.
From my perspective as a retired California police officer, four decade patch collector, and non-profit publisher of the most comprehensive database on California law enforcement emblems in the world...you folks have butchered the facts and the thrust of the article.
The focus of police patch collecting posting was to accurately inform about preserving law enforcement emblem history in the US from coast to coast. It no longer does that.

Hopefully they will be few and far between *touch wood*. I liked your reply on the article too, direct to the point. Regards, SGGH 19:14, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] re: patchbook + ip strange coincedence
I see what you mean. Having left a warning on Patchbooks talk page about removing the tags, i suspect (or at least hope) that he will stop without further action being taken. Good catch, though I hope you don't mind me saying that perhaps voicing what you've noticed on the article talk page may have provoked Patchbook into unnecessary anger, might have been better on my talk page or the wikiproject talk page? Nevertheless your suspicions might well be correct, as I have said hopefully the issue will die down now.
It's the only conflict that iv come across so far in the project, which is a good sign! Hopefully this minor one will dissipate :)
Regards, SGGH 23:25, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
- No worries, its turned out fine as far as I know (he says, having not checked the article yet) lets just try not to atagonise him further and just get on with the article, hopefully he can be included in editing it if he learns how to do so properly. [edit] Image:AlbaniaScouts.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:AlbaniaScouts.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECU≈talk 01:53, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] 3RR
Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. Rather than reverting, discuss disputed changes on the talk page. The revision you want is not going to be implemented by edit warring. Thank you. Metros232 23:27, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
- I see that you reported Okkar for 3RR violations. You need to clean up your report to get it considered. In the diffs, you have to actually put a link for the diff, not just like the times in which they occurred. You have to show the link for that revert at that time. - I have reported you for 3RR violations WP:AN/3RR and also requested mediation. Okkar 03:25, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
- In a bizzare turn of events, Okkar's report of you only gave three reversions (you need to do four to break the rule) but in your own report you actually reported four diffs in which you revert others, thus proving you broke the rule!!
- This suggests a little confusion on your behalf. Looking at the edit summaries on the Military of Myanmar page, there are a few policies you need reminding of. I've decided not to block you for the 3RR violation - but future violations would almost definately result in a block; I'm taking the view that a block now would be purely puniative and a clear explanation of some of our policies would work best this time.
-
- Wikipedia:Three-revert rule - the policy states that "Edit warring is not productive. Editors who revert a page in whole or in part more than three times in 24 hours, except in certain special circumstances, are likely to be blocked from editing." You re-added the picture more than three times - a clear and simple violation of the policy. Bear in mind that a revert means undoing in whole or in part the edit of other editors. Please also note that in reporting a possible violation, you need to show the diffs of the other editor's actions. The dispute resolution section shows the options that are available to you other than edit warring
-
- WP:OWN and WP:BITE - I refer to your edit summaries "you're_ the vandal, as an anonymous user" and "info was on article long before you got here" - I know that was in repsonse to a personal attack. However, the first quote suggests that you are 'biting the newcomers' - IP addresses' contributions are just as viable as rejistered users. The second one suggests a bit of WP:OWN - anyone is free to come in and edit pages and remove the contributions of editors who have been on an aritlce for years, as long as they can justify it.
- You seem a decent editor, but just don't let the whole thing stress you so much. For what its worth, I don't see a problem with the picrue, but neither does it seem too important. --Robdurbar 11:58, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RESPONSE FROM PATCHBOOK
1. I have threatened no one.
2. I am a recognized and published expert my area, however I am NOT a professional wiki. I may have unintentionally harmed the egos of some entrenched wiki editors with my difference in style as a new user. It is obvious to me that you folks are threatened by my original article as it may have trespassed upon your wiki turf. I therefor asked that my wiki contributions be removed.
3. I could cite examples and provide quotes however I expect that your response would be that I am "personally attacking" or "threatening" someone. So I will not waste the time doing so.
4. In spite of your postings to the contrary, I find the wiki community that I have experienced so far to be closed minded and intolerant of others, which is quite contrary to your posted philosophy. This wiki demeanor has caused me to reevaluate my participation in what I originally thought was a positive and unbiased academic endeavor to make information available to the world community.
Your actions have driven me away as a new user. I invite wikipedia officials to contact me via email regarding my experience here.

[edit] Mediation for naming of Wikiproject Burma/Myanmar
A request for mediation has been filed with the Mediation Committee that lists you as a party. The Mediation Committee requires that all parties listed in a mediation must be notified of the mediation. Please review the request at Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Wikipedia:WikiProject Burma/Myanmar, and indicate whether you agree or refuse to mediate. If you are unfamiliar with mediation, please refer to Wikipedia:Mediation. There are only seven days for everyone to agree, so please check as soon as possible. --Hintha 06:35, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Japan
Hi, can you please self-revert your last edit to the article. In the last FA nomination a complaint was made because of the use of sub-headings too frequently. I want to see if we can get away with no sub-headings at all for now. However I've already reverted twice today and don't want to use up my "daily allowance" in case I need to do another proper revert. Thanks for your help. John Smith's 22:57, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Request for Mediation
Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Comment on content, not on contributors; personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Note that continued personal attacks may lead to blocks for disruption. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. Okkar 07:09, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- Wikipedia includes in their definition of Sockpuppet "to generate an appearance of consensus, or to vote more than once", and at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sock_puppetry#Forbidden_uses_of_sock_puppets says
"Voting and other shows of support" "Wikipedia uses a "one person, one vote" principle for all votes and similar discussions where individual preferences are counted in any fashion. Accordingly, sock puppets may not be used to give the impression of more support for a viewpoint. This includes voting multiple times in any election, or using more than one account in a discussion at polls and surveys, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, Wikipedia:Requests for adminship, or on talk pages."
"In addition to double-voting, sock puppets should not be used for the purpose of deception, or to create the illusion of broader support for a position than actually exists."
Nobody is trying to silence any opposition, as stated multiple times a name change would be supported if the vote is clean. I stand by Wikipedia's definition of sockpuppets when it comes to bringing in ringers to skew a vote. Chris 13:59, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] patchbook and your museum move
1) I have reported Patchbook to the admins and requested a block. You've done really well handling this I think, good job!
2) Good work also with the moves, its often found that articles already exist on wikipedia and they are just badly placed or don't know about each other. Again, good work!

- So it appears that I wasnt the only who is being bullied by you. patchbook was right, you are trying to drive out anyone who dont agree with you. You abused your long term affiliation with wikipedia and exploit your know-how of Wikipedia's complaints functions and procedures to get the upper hand on anyone who stand up to you. You either try to slience them with various form of complaints based upon made up accusations and trickery, or you simply drive them out with the help of your friends. God knows how many newbies you succeeded in driving away from Wikipedia. It is such a shame that the noble standing of wikipedia is runied by the likes of you, who are bent on forcing your views and opinions down everyone's throat. Okkar 18:24, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikiproject Burma/Myanmar
Do you think I should partition all of the materials into different subpages in the Wikiproject, as done in Wikipedia:WikiProject_Indonesia? I personally feel that the main page is becoming too cluttered. --Hintha 06:51, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's often difficult, but you'll pull through. I once had a similar experience with another Wikipedia user who disagreed with me, but things worked out, and he's a great contributer now. Don't let any setbacks hinder your great work. --Hintha 07:29, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- I really don't know when--I heard it can take several weeks. It's amazing; when I removed the Myanmar cat from the Military of Myanmar article (as I usually do with Myanmar articles when there are more specific cats available), Okkar accused me of working to promote the agenda of the Burmese government-in-exile and censoring his work. He even had the nerve to warn me, even though I regularly re-categorize, so articles can be found in the more specific cats. Hopefully the Censorship in Myanmar article I recently wrote won't be misconstrued for "pro-democratic propaganda" again. I've tried my best in citing all of my materials. --Hintha 03:09, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
I will support a name change only if Hintha and Andrew support it, as the other major positive contributors. <== are you suggesting we dont contribute to the project? Hintha and Andrew arent the only people who contributed to the project. I, myself, "positively" contributed. Your comment is a personal attack on all these contributors who has contributed to this project. Why are you saying "positive"? is it because the rest of us dont agree with your views so we became "negative" contributors? Okkar 17:48, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Tennessee law enforcement agencies
A couple of months ago you proposed merging Tennessee Highway Patrol and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. You did not provide any discussion. I seem to be the only user who discussed your proposal; I oppose it because the agencies are not related (it would be sort of like merging the federal FBI and the Secret Service). Do you still see a need to merge these articles, or can the "merge" tags be removed? --orlady 20:40, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. I deleted those merge tags. I don't know much about the Tennessee Highway Patrol, but if I find good resources I will expand the article. As for your aunt in Oak Ridge, I think Oak Ridge is a place that reduces many people's "degrees of separation" -- many people have lived, worked, or visited here at one time or another. Happy trails... --orlady 22:32, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi Kintetsubuffalo,
I saw you had contributed to (and created?) the Cigarette holder article last year, so I think you might be interested in a move to delete List of bow tie wearers. That list could be combined with the Bow tie article, but I'm arguing that the list, long as it is, should stay as is. If you have any interest in whether or not that list should stay, please visit the deletion discussion (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of bow tie wearers) and throw your two cents in. [edit] REQUEST FOR OPINIONS - Isn't BSA Exploring part of scouting?
In the article about collecting scout memorabila[5], a section includes links to related subjects. Law Enforcement Exploring[6] is an existing related Wikipedia article. Kintetsubuffalo believes it is not related to the subject of collecting scout emblems, and has repeatedly removed it. Since Law Enforcement Exploring is a formal part of BSA, and hundreds of unique emblems are used by the BSA LE explorer program, I believe it to be properly related and should be included for reference. Please provide opinions so that I may be guided.Patchbook 06:01, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

I created the Bubusara Beyshenalieva page, in which I correctly spelled the word, "Kyrgyz", a total of five times. Don't you think that perhaps the one incorrectly spelled instance might have been the result of a simple typo rather than, as you imply, a case of an ignorant person, "throw[ing] some consonants together"? Kintetsubuffalo; is Evan Siegel an Azeri? If not then I don’t see why you added Azeri tag to his biography! Kiumars
I urgently need your opinion about NOR on Languages of Iran; as you will see from the history of the article and its talk page I have been told that we cannot take a calculator and add up the figures on this article and demonstrate the discrepancies because that is counted as Original research! Is this true? Is adding up the figures on a list and showing their discrepancies counted as original Research? Kiumars
[edit] Donnie Davies
Hello. Thanks for contributing to the Donnie Davies (3rd nomination), but I just recently posted new evidence and sources for the reversal of the deletion that perhaps you were unaware of before including a variety of sources. The sources discuss the significance of him as a fictional persona and the controversy that revolves around the use of that and the magnitude of his reach. If the Wikipedia Amnesia Test was applied, the article would hardly be biographical, but more along the lines of something address an urban myth/spoof. Please review my new evidence in light of the timing. Again, thanks for your consideration. --SquatGoblin 14:08, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Actually, what you deleted was a separate category (one for the murderer, one for the murdered), thus the keyed name of the victim. That whole article kinda freaks me out... I'm not even sure how it ended up on my watchlist. Neier 06:24, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] re: article tagging and WP:PAW
Hi Chris, thanks for you interest in the project. We're always needing new hands!
As to the tagging, I think you should only tag articles for WP:PAW if you're willing to be a member of the project, which would mean (1) adding your name to the member list, unless you'd rather not (2) familiarizing yourself in general with the scope and thrust of the project and (3) devoting at least a small amount of your Wikitime to working on the goals of the project.
I, personally, only like to have a few articles tagged, ones on which active work is being done or will be done, although others have disagreed with this.
Keep in mind that, although it's true that we are mainly engaged in reverting child-sex-normalization propaganda, neither are we "against" pedophilia (a disease) or pedophiles, most of whom are law-abiding and very unhappy persons, whereas most child sex offenders are not truly pedophiles but just rapists or abusers who like easy targets.
Anyway, here is what I wrote at the project talk page
- Editor Chris has tagged Lolicon, Category:Murdered children, Oakland County Child Killer, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and Child Pornography: Model Legislation & Global Review. I'm in discussion now with Chris over whether he wants to participate actively in the project. If he's not, I think these should all be untagged, unless someone else is working on them. If if is, I still have serious qualms about tagging Category:Murdered children and Oakland County Child Killer, and perhaps National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, although the other articles are OK. Reason being, I'm unsure what connection there is between this project and (say) the Oakland County Child Killer (whoever he is), who may or may not be a pedophile but the operative work here is killer, perhaps this article would be better served by WikiProject Murderers or whatever. Right?
Cheers, thanks for you interest and looking forward to working with you, Herostratus 17:59, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Burmese city infobox
Sorry for the long delay in responding to you. I didn't notice the messages you left me. For adding the red dot on the maps, you have to obtain the geo coordinates of the place and put them into Template:Infobox City Myanmar's coordinates section. I think the coordinates may still be a little off, but a user who's more experienced than me should finish the job I started here. I'll also begin writing conventions for Burmese-language articles soon, but I think all the ideas should be out in the open, so we all collaborate. I think I'm going to first check out how other conventions are written. Thanks for the starting the template to mark articles that need Burmese names, by the way. -Hintha 08:48, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Talk:Iranian Scouting Organization rating
Having reviewed my edit summary, I do see and take the point that it could be considered offensive/inflammatory. Please believe in the spirit of good faith that I was simply following the assessment guidelines. A "low-importance article is not required knowledge for a broad understanding of Iran." This is vaguely worded as guidelines go; I placed the article in this category based on my reading of the criteria, and tried (ungrammatically) to reflect that logic in my edit summary. How difficult the Internet can make communication sometimes! Was your message in reference to this instance only, or do you have further concerns? Please tell me if you do. Thank you. -Fsotrain09 01:36, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

AKA, "you know who." (I'm trying to be discreet, although I'm sure you know who reads your talk page). I didn't want to appear to provoke on the project page with my comment, but I have no aspiration to become an administrator, so I see no compelling reason to remain civil in certain cases. Anyway, it seems your best option is to not take the bait. Revert where appropriate, report if you have the energy and more faith in that process than I do, and don't feed the trolls. It's well beyond WP:AGF, and if he's still trying to impress with his "clever" use of plausible deniability two months ago, it's a sign of needing to be fed. If several people keep an eye on the article for inappropriate edits or reversions and avoid engaging, there shouldn't be a problem that won't fade quickly. Bobanny 10:19, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

- I live and work in Tokyo. As long as you don't mind getting low-paying job at first, you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a job. After getting some idea of what you need to do/know to get a good pay, look for another job. If possible, avoid getting job as an English teacher at one of many English-language schools. Many Japanese companies doesn't like to hire someone who worked there, as there is no assurance that he or she is actually competent at other job or proficient in English. Briefly, I was in charge of hiring native-English speaker and I wasn't impressed with most of applicants whose previous job was a "teacher". It's better to have worked at a company before coming to Japan and have one or two professional skills than coming here straight out of school and trying to find work. It will get too long so I will stop here. I hope this helps.--Revth 01:00, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Your contribution to Scoutisme Français
Hi Chris, you added this section [[9] to Scoutisme Français. I removed it temporarily, because it can't be correct:
- SF was not founded until 1941 [10]
- Piet Kornenberg does not give a year for the federation (The Undaunted II, p. 82/82). Taken from the context it must have been between 1936 and 1939.
Perhaps we should move this to Scouting in France since it predates the founding of SF? --jergen 09:25, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

How this image is currently used on Afghan Scout Association fails fair use criteria number 8: "The material must contribute significantly to the article (e.g. identify the subject of an article, or specifically illustrate relevant points or sections within the text) and must not serve a purely decorative purpose." If you want to include this image in the article, display it as a thumbnail and write an appropriate caption for it. Displaying a tiny 20px wide copy of it next to the text is not a good idea. —Remember the dot (t) 06:02, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi I am fascinated in Tibet and Tibetan Buddhism and have adde dmany new articles on buddhist monasteries such as Ramoche Temple and Shalu Monastery. Would it be possible to merge your project into WikiProject Tibet -after all much of the traditional culture and biographies etc are Tibetan buddhism anyway, I feel it could create abetter coordination . [edit] WP Tibet
THanks for your support!!!! Wowo I am amzed how many peope already - I know tons of users who would be interested too! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 13:51, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
I have tried to organize the Category:WikiProject Tibet for starters but Please note though that Portal:Tibetan Buddhism exists and all the categories for WikiProject Tibetan Buddhism most of which are empty. SHould this be moved to WikiProject Tibet? Plus I don't think User:Sylvain1972 is aware of events. When I suggested it to him/her they didn't seem happy with the idea. I don't know how many articles are related to Tibetan Buddhism but it can't be a huge number although I do see the idea of the project from a religious viewpoint. But I am quick to say that a major part of Wikiproject Tibet is religiously entwined anyway. What shall we do? I don't want to offend people who started that project by moving their page but isn't it best under Wikiproject Tibet especially if their work is said to be inactive? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 15:16, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
I have layed out the Categories of Tibet on the main page but the only thing is as the banner is still WikiProject CHina there can be a lot of controversy. E.g I have just tagged the Dalai Lama page this should be regarded as a high important Tibet article nobody can really argue he is not a part of Tibet but labelled with a China tag can look really disrespectful to the great buddha. Is there any way the labelling for the Tibet can read This article is part of WIkiProject Tibet to improve Tibetan related article son wikipedia. It is part of WIkiProject China or something. Is it just more politically correct I think. Please respond. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 16:08, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Its just there is a lot of tension historically and if you begin labelling traditional religious figures which are regarded as strongly Tibetan with a China tag tibet=yes tag who were respondible without argument for destroying many suvh monasteries and people it might look a little wrong. Wouldn't it be like labelling a synagogue in Germany with a Swastika? Tibetan articles though need to be tagged by th Tibetan project? I honestly think Tibet has enough articles and potential articles to be a seperate project if support is gained but I am also quick to say it should be a part of the WikiProject China with each article going in the VChinese categories What should we do about this? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 16:14, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
I think I have solved it by keeping the Tibetan Buddhims template -CHanging it to Wikiproject Tibet:Tibetan Buddhism and adding the Category: WikiProject Tibet articles -this way it avoids the China tag but is still in the Category:Tibetan articles. This should avoid conflict I think! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 16:34, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
I'll still tag most Tibetan articles as Chinese but controverisal religious figures I think are best under the Buddhism project. although they still feed into the Tibet maintenance ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 16:35, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
My feeling would be to use Template:WikiProject Tibetan Buddhism and move it to the main Tibet banner but mention for articles related to Tibet and Tibetn Buddhism ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 17:16, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
THats fine. Please check out the progession and how it should be pleae see Category:WikiProject Tibet. HOwver the default indexing needs sort out on the Tibetan Buddhism template. The Tibet plate isn't needed as it is part of the CHina template. See article Ramoche Temple this is the idea of the tagging. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 21:53, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] WP Tibet now up and running
I have everything sorted now I have just tagged all of the cities and villages as part of the project. The Tibet banner is part of the China banner china|tibet=yes but I am keeping the Tibetan Buddhism banner for articles which are not related to CHina but still go in the Tibet category. E.g the Dalai Lama article is under Tibetan Buddhism which is a Category:WP Tibet article but not a CHina article . ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 20:37, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
It is important to have Tibetan Buddhism working as a sub project within WikiProject Tibet because e.g article like the Dalai Lama are not related to CHina but to Tibetan Buddhism. However he is related to Tibet articles which the tmeplate feeeds into this. THis is the best way to do it. Agree? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 21:55, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
However it is a key part of WikiProject Tibet and is organized by the project. I have kept the Tibetan Buddhist stub-class etc categories which are now categorized under Stub-Class Tibet articles. Of course every article will alos go in the main Tibet article category. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 21:58, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
These are the articles I've tagged already Category:WikiProject Tibet articles. Howver can you sort out the default on the Template:WikiProject Tibetan Buddhism the {{PAGE NAME} thing. It isn't indexing the articles properly in Category:WikiProject Tibet articles. THanks ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 22:01, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

They would be OK on an article on Scouting on Christmas Island or Scouting on Norfolk Island, but while I have studied them in depth I have no reliable sources. For example, on Norfolk Island the Group has lapsed because of no leaders and it comes under the International Commissioner for New South Wales, but that is not enough for an article and the source is only an e-mail from the NSW Commissioner. I'm not going to delete them though. Let's see how they go. --Bduke 00:35, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Irancard.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Irancard.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Remember the dot (talk) 05:13, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for adding more information to the image description page. However, this still does not constitute a fair use rationale. Please read Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline and Help:Image page#Fair use rationale for an explanation of what a fair use rationale should contain. —Remember the dot (talk) 02:59, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- (replying to message on my talk page) — No, it needs a formal fair use rationale. What you have is a good start. Just put it into its own section and add a few more words. Make sure to answer the question "How does this image significantly contribute to the article?"
- You are welcome to include the image, but I do not want to write the fair use rationale for you. —Remember the dot (talk) 03:13, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] WP Tibet
I'm sorry I don't understand you. How is it different? PLease explain ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 12:52, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
The Tibetan Buddhism project hasn't changed one bit. IN fact it has improved because I have tagged Tibetan Buddhist articles with the Tibetan Buddhist template. THe only thing that has changed is that the page has been sub-paged in the Tibet project PLease explain or have you just lost interest? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 10:23, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] August 20
The way I was spacing the years on that page is the same way they are spaced on most other year pages. Try editing any other date page and you'll see that the years are spaced exactly the way I was doing it. 69.138.229.246 02:25, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- To revert the work of another (actually named) user over mere matters of spacing is counterproductive and meanspirited. I understand what you're saying but it it unnecessary. Both ways are valid, and you have better things to do. Chris 02:29, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:GenScoutbadge.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:GenScoutbadge.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use.
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. [edit] AfD nomination of Hard Edge Core
An editor has nominated Hard Edge Core, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hard Edge Core and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Just saw your placement of this on Spences Bridge, BC. I'll join the WP, but you should have a look at List of ghost towns in British Columbia; not all are written yet, though, but I'll make sure your template is on the ones I set up.Skookum1 06:12, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

hi you seem to have created WikiProject Central Asia template. Do you have any idea why it does not generate an assesment scale like this one [[12]] I tried but could not fix it. regards cs 20:28, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

I have to ask; what's your rationale for adding Template:TlWP Sexuality to the above article? It doesn't seem quite relevant (though I could be wrong :) ) .. - Alison☺ 01:25, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Wikiproject Central Asia
No, not 80 % is gone anywhere. I tried to organize them in different pages. Besides, they are on the history. Feel free to add them to the new page, or tell me which information is lost, I will gladly restore. cs 21:09, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

- I checked again, I could not find any loss of information. If you did not like the new look, I can understand. But I spend 24 hours organizing all the data to the best of my knowledge. I thought the old page was too long and hard to follow. I put a notice on the talk page to see if the new page gets approval. If not, just revert back. This is not the first time my labor went unappreciated. I wont mind.cs 21:23, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] My WikiProject Proposal
I recently made a proposal on Wikipedia:WikiProject_Council/Proposals#Foreign_relations, which has received 2 votes for support. I don't think that I can get the 5 votes needed on that page since people rarely vote on these things, so do you think that it's advisable to be bold and create the project page myself???--Ed ¿Cómo estás? 01:52, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
