The Gods' Pack is a up-and-coming webcomic written and drawn by Sarah Sawyer. The first page of the comic was posted online on September 30th, 2005. The entire comic is drawn in Photoshop with a tablet. The plot is written a chapter or so in advance and updates on Thursdays. As far as the author is aware, The Gods' Pack is one of the few webcomics centralized on wolves.

[edit] Plot
The Gods' Pack follows the story of a young wolf named Tal in ancient Ireland. In this world, the Gods have servants called Messengers. The Gods' Packs are wolf packs who exist to produce Messengers for specific gods. Tal lives in the Mac Tire Tine, who serve Belenus the fire god. His family includes his immortal mother Silver, older sister Sena, and adopted brother Corrigan the husky. Being a rebellious teenager, Tal doesn't want his duties as a Messenger in training. But when two strange Messengers come calling, Tal has no choice but to go with them to Tara early to become a Messenger.
[edit] Characters
[edit] Main Characters
[edit] Tal
Tal is rebellious "middle" child in his family. He is Silver's youngest biological offspring, but when the family adopted Corrigan, Tal became the mdidle child. He looks up to Sean a good deal and generally resents Sena for being so calm and accepting of her role as the future immortal mother of his pack. He tolerates Corrigan, though sometimes that's questionable.
As a Messenger, Tal is still in training. The red at the back of his neck is only the beginning of his colours, which will eventually grow in completely to resemble fire. He serves the Celtic fire god, Belenus, who appears in a manifest wolf form the wolves call Djin. Tal has yet to master his powers as a Messenger, so he's apt to lighting brush on fire.
[edit] Corrigan
Corrigan is Silver's adopted son. He was found wandering the forest howling after he strayed too far from his human master. Silver took pity on the strange looking pup and allowed him to stay with her family. Corrigan is much younger than the others and is very innocent and naieve. He loves all his adopted siblings and is fascinated by Tal's powers as a Messenger. Because of Tal's testy nature, Corrigan tends to spend more time with Sena, whose patience seems to last longer.
Corrigan is a red husky and isn't native to Ireland. It has not been made clear exactly how a husky made it to Ireland, except that it involved humans and the animal trade. Corrigan is often the comedy relief of the comic and is famous for his line "Sneaky!" Fans often refer to him as "Pretty but dumb."
[edit] Djin
Djin is the manifest form of the fire god, Belenus. As such, he is often prideful, hotheaded, and quick to anger. His patience for Tal wavers a good deal and he is not as formal as the other gods. He is sometimes described by Sarah as the drunkard of the cast.
Djin's true form is unknown because he appears different to every Messenger, depending on their species. According to Djin, this is to ease the comprehension of his Messengers as their minds would not be able to understand him in his true form. Because he deals with humans, Djin is one of the few characters who speaks with an Irish accent.
[edit] Sena
Sena is Tal's older sister. She is calm, patient, and reserved. She cares deeply for her brothers but knows how to keep them in their places. Sena has gained popularity for being the strong female lead of the comic, capable and willing to do anything the males can do and in all likelihood, often doing it better. She is smart and quick on her feet, which has served her well so far.
Sena is the first female born to her pack since Silver was born. This means she has no powers and is not a Messenger, but will be the future immortal mother of the Mac Tire Tine. Little is known as to what this will entail or how she will prepare for this role.
[edit] Morrigan
Morrigan is the Celtic triple war goddess. She is clever and conniving and has a mind for strategy. She can be arrogant and quick to her temper, but she is good at thinking about the big picture and what will benefit her the best. This often means she lies in order to get what she wants, but is incredibly good at it.
Morrigan, unlike Djin, is the true name of the goddess. Though she is occasionally referred to as "Titim," which means darkness. There is a hint of some bird relation to her manifest form, as she has large feathers at the back of her neck. She is also supposed to be beautiful, another assest to her abilities to get what she wants.
[edit] Zigor
Zigor is Morrigan's remaining Messenger. He is cruel, brutal, and powerful. Though this is useful to an extent, it annoys Morrigan because so much of her plans require a certain level of grace that Zigor often lacks. He would prefer to make a bloody finish of those in his way than to use them to their fullest.
Zigor's power as a Messenger is that of disguise and mind control. He can appear to be another wolf, a trick he used to appear as "Zi" a Messenger of Daghda to trick Silver into giving up Tal. He used Patrick as his validation, knowing Silver would trust her old friend. Though keeping up the mind control and his disguise proved too hard to do at once and Zigor slipped up, causing Patrick to try and warn Tal.
[edit] Minor Characters
[edit] Silver
Silver is the immortal mother wolf of the Mac Tire Tine. With her age comes grace and wisdom. She is very patient and kind hearted, training her sons in their initial powers as Messengers. She knows a good deal more than she says.
Silver is only character who knows the identity of Tal, Sena, and Sean's father. Though he has never been mention in the comic, there has been discussion amongst fans as to who he is and whether or not he has been in the comic yet. According to Sarah, neither she or Silver is talking in the near future.
[edit] Zi
Zi is a quiet but ill-tempered Messenger to Daghda who appeared alongside Patrick to take Tal to Tara. He only speaks a few lines in the comic and most of these are gruff and annoyed.
Tal saw a flash where Zi appeared different but did not mention this to any of the other characters. It was later discovered that Zi was a disguise for Zigor, a Messenger to Morrigan who was controlling Patrick.
[edit] Patrick
Patrick is a Messenger to Daghda. He is a friendly, yet slightly formal, wolf who takes a liking to Tal while travelling with him to Tara. He acts almost like an older brother and is very aware of the rules and limitations placed on him as a Messenger. He is loyal and committed to his duties.
Patrick was initially being controlled by Zigor in order to get Tal away from his family. When Patrick finally broke Zigor's mind control, he fought to protect Tal from the dark Messenger.
[edit] Lewin
Lewin lives in Tara as the Head of the Messengers alongside his twin sister Letty. He is highly respected within Tara for being level headed, fair, and an overall upstanding Messenger and wolf. He is fiercly loyal to Letty and strongly dislikes Sean for having an interest in her.
Lewin is a very commanding character and is the only character in the comic with visible scarring. The scars are from protecting his sister, though the exact circumstances have not been made clear in the comic.
[edit] Letty
Letty is Lewin's twin sister and serves alongside him as Head of the Messengers. She has only had two lines in the comic and both of them were directed to her brother while Tal was passed out. She has not been shown to talk to any of the other characters and seems to generally be quiet, submissive, and often not present.
The exact relationship between Sean and Letty is unclear, except for his attentions seem to mildly annoy her and make Lewin dislike him a good deal. Letty is also the only female Messenger in Ireland.
[edit] Sean
Sean is Tal's older brother and a Messenger to Belenus. He is good natured and fun loving, almost the polar opposite of his angsty younger brother. He has an interest in Letty but because she doesn't talk much and her brother hates him, he hasn't gotten much of anywhere. However, he persists as he believes his affections will eventually be returned.
Sean is a full Messenger, complete with his colours grown in and a mastery of his powers. Sarah describes Sean and Djin's relationship as that of two old drinking buddies.
