Koichi Wajima

Koichi Wajima (born April 21, 1943 in Hokkaido, Japan) was a professional boxer in the super welterweight (154 lb) division.
Wajima turned pro in 1968, and won the WBC and WBA Light Middleweight Titles in 1971 by winning a close decision over Carmelo Bossi. Wajima defended the belts six times before losing them to Oscar Albarado via KO in the 15th round in 1974. They rematched the followign year and Wajima regained the title via unanimous decision. He lost the belt in his next fight to Jae Doo Yuh later that year, but again regained the belt in a rematch in 1976. He then lost the belt later that year to Jose Manuel Duran and then lost in another shot at the title to Eddie Gazo in 1977, retiring after the bout.
