Kom el-Sultan
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The area now known as Kom el-Sultan is located near Abydos, in Egypt. It is thought to have been the original settlement area, and to probably contain the Great Temple of Osiris. Much of the original settlement is now lost under modern construction and cultivation.
Original dedicated to the worship of Khentiamentiu (a precursor of Osiris), the area grew to be perhaps the most important cult site in Ancient Egypt.
