Kontor
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Kontor was a trading post of the Hanseatic League.
In addition to the major Kontors, some ports had a representative merchant and a warehouse. Of all the Kontoren buildings only Bergen Kontor, known as Bryggen in Norway, survived till present day. Bryggen was closed for business in 1754. Bergen Kontor is on the UNESCO list of the World Cultural Heritage sites.
