[edit] KOSA-TV
KOSA Channel 7 in the Odessa/Midland television market is the CBS affiliate for the Permian Basin area of West Texas. KOSA and its transmitter are both located in Odessa, with the station being housed inside the Music City Mall. ICA Broadcasting I Ltd locally owns KOSA. They also own and operate MyTv 16 (MNT), which is available on cable Channel 16 and KOSA’s digital signal.
[edit] History
KOSA signed on the air January 1, 1956, and has been a CBS affiliate since it’s debut. It is the only station in the area to have two news studios: one in Odessa and the other a bureau in Midland.
KOSA was also the first station to bring HDTV and a digital signal to the Midland/Odessa Market.
In June 2006, KOSA CBS 7 began to produce a nightly 9pm newscast for My TV 16. "My News 16" is noted as the first bilingual (English and Spanish) newscast in the United States.
KOSA is also the setting for a TV Guide Channel reality series called Making News: Texas Style, which revolves around the inner workings, staff, and personalities of the station's news department.
