Darius Von Whaleyland is The Great Khan of the Barbarian Horde since 2001. He was born in Felton, CA and currently resides sans titles in San Diego, CA under the name Derek Whaley.

The Great Khan is the son of the former Sergeant Heraldo von Whaleyland and his wife Kandala. His titles, however, pass from his maternal grandfather, Winniford, who died in August 2001.

Since his coronation (done after the three month period of mourning), he has achieved much. In San Diego, he studied for no less than four years history at Point Loma Nazarene University and he continues studies there through its education credential program at its Mission Valley satellite campus. In the future, he hopes to use his credentials and his noble title to seek out the mysteries of the ancient world. However, that not being probable in the next decade, he plans more modest endeavors of which include writing his fictional history of Ireland during the Dark Ages, reading historical and science fiction books, charting the descents of various royal families, traveling the world, learning more languages, and the occasional barbarian invasion of some first world country.

The Great Khan has contributed much to the current make-up of Wikipedia, thanks in part to adapting the works of others to better means. This includes the entire succession box series now in use across Wikipedia. Seeing a problem in the last few years, he pushed the effort to standardize all succession lists in a format adapted from those already in use. This allowed the entire website to become more streamlined in design. He even created a Wikipedia: WikiProject Succession Box Standardization to organize it all. He also regularly updates these lists and now finds sources for those already in use. He often works also with lists of incumbents to make them look prettier.

Updates...
New Templates and a New Look
It has indeed been a long time since I last looked upon this page with anything but disgust. But now it has a nice new look with updates for all! Well, sort of.

Anyway, lately it has come to my attention as Great Khan that a certain problem has arisen regarding succession templates that needs correction. In fact, the entire organization I created so long ago needs an overhaul and I am working on that regularly now. I added new templates, Template:s-cite and Template:s-fam so that people can see where we find our information and view a more complete genealogy for certain of our people. This being said, there is still a lot of argument over at Wikipedia: WikiProject Succession Box Standardization that needs to be resolved and I'll be damned if it doesn't get fixed soon. But that must come with time. I will try updating this page more often with my current projects but it is more of an obligation to update than to update this. Cheers!

Massive Template Clean-up
It has been a while since I last updated. A ton of revisions have been done to most of the old templates and a number of new templates have been created. The series just released help with the "s-"series regarding the various types of titles out there. Released is Template:s-pre for pretenders, Template:s-reg for regnal and noble titles, Template:s-hon for honorary titles, Template:s-off for political office titles, and Template:s-par for assembly titles. These go above each list of titles and can be viewed from the help page linked from Template:start. In addition to these, Template:s-ttl now supports district seats as an option, Template:s-ptd has been deemed redundant and only Template:s-tul is being used now, and Template:s-hou is being used more frequently. Some of these templates are being connected with catagories, too, which is quite amazing. I attempted to create a table for family decendents but it failed for the most part due to an indentation glitch.

The other project I am continuing is the clean up of succession boxes from the older styles to the newer ones. Much of the old styles are gone now but considering there are now over 1 million articles on Wikipedia, plenty of the old HTML succession boxes still exist. I am also creating succession boxes where they are needed, updating ones with s-hou and other styles, and added pretentious lines where I can (mostly because they are fun to track). I ceded the Picts and Dál Riada pages to more suited scholars as my attention span for maintaining articles once I have created them is limited.
