Talk:KUPT-TV
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
KMYL-LP is not associated in any way with KASY-TV Albuquerque. KMYL may be officially described as a repeater of KUPT 29 Hobbs, but is actually the main station, as "My Lubbock TV." KUPT 29 Hobbs rebroadcasts KMYL-LP (UPN, to be My Network TV in September 2006). Confusion may have arisen due to KASY's former relation to KJTV & Ramar Communications in Lubbock before it was sold by Ramar. KMYL was formerly KUPT 22 until January 2006 when the KUPT calls went to Hobbs and "UPN Lubbock" shifted to KUPT-LP 14 to make way for KWBZ 22 as "Lubbock's WB" on channel 22. Shortly thereafter, when the demise of both UPN and The WB were announced, KUPT-LP Lubbock changed calls to KMYL-LP to reflect the upcoming affiliation with MY NETWORK TV as "My Lubbock TV." It may be of interest that KWBZ 22 will also change calls (rumored to be KLCW) soon to reflect its upcoming affiliation with THE CW network.
