Kyaukse

Kyaukse is a small town in Mandalay Division, Myanmar, 30 miles from Mandalay, the second capital of Myanmar. It is famous for the Kyaukse Elephant Dance, which was heavily promoted during the government campaign "Visit Myanmar Year 1996". The Kyaukse area is known for its turmeric, mango and onions. This area is developed more quickly during this administration because it is the native area of the head of State General Than Shwe.
The town is home to the Kyaukse Education College and Kyaukse University.
