L.R. Shelton, Sr.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
L.R Shelton, Sr. is the founder of Radio Missions (see this entry for more information on their doctrinal position), a ministry which still broadcasts his thirty-minute Voice of Truth messages which were recorded in the 1950s and 1960s. The ministry also disseminates each year many booklets containing transcribed messages by Shelton, as well as audio recordings of his messages. Many people connected to the ministry distribute these booklets as gospel tracts.

[edit] Biography
"Pastor Shelton took the pastorate of First Baptist Church, Algiers in 1927 and began to devote all his time and energy to evangelizing southeast Louisiana. After the Lord saved him in 1942, he tirelessly sought, through the means of radio and the printed page, the salvation of the souls of men everywhere. He preached 'God's Word as it is, to men as they are' until his death in 1971. He founded the worldwide ministry of Radio Missions and the 'The Old Puritan Press' which is still being carried on today. Pastor Shelton's messages are currently broadcast over more than 40 radio stations, and approximately 300 message titles are available in print for free distribution. He is also the author of several books."[1]
[edit] King James Only
Shelton was a harsh critic of the Revised Standard Version when it was released, and preached against it. He predated the modern King James Only movement by a couple of decades, but was in his time a strong advocate of the King James text. Radio Missions now disseminates Shelton's messages on this topic, and has assimilated much of the modern King James Only movement's teachings.
