Alumni and age Victuallers 19:40, 14 March 2007 (UTC) Hi - this article has suffered a lot of subtle vandalism (e.g. see Special:Contributions/86.133.47.236) that I am having trouble unwinding, with no knowledge of LRGS myself. -- Jon Dowland 14:22, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

Similarly, i have had to remove an amount of subjective text from this page. Please keep Wikipedia objective. David Gates

I was a pupil at the school until very recently, and therefore I have personal knowledge about the views on the headmaster. While they may be subjective to a certain degree, surely it is acceptable to say that a headmaster was/is disliked, at least by a number at the school. also, my edit about the expulsion is factually accurate, and i would like to know why it was deleted please? thank you, and sterling work on the page.

Not wanting to get into it in too great depth, but i am also an Old Lancastrian. I don't feel that these additions are of value to the Wikipedia entry on the Grammar. David Gates

it is interesting to note, however, the large amount of changes made by users on Wikipedia, especially on the changing of Andrew Jarman to Nazi Bastard. Clearly, this is a current event at the grammar school and worthy of inclusion. Merely because one has good memories of the school does not mean others share this. and it is factually accurate to include that the headmaster is disliked by both pupils and staff.

The changing of the headmaster's name on Wikipedia cannot be argued to be a factual issue - his name is still his name. A number of the changes within the history of edits state that his name is 'Nazi Bastard', which is incorrect. It may be factually accurate that an individual is unpopular, but i personally did not consider this to be of merit within the entry - there is a great deal of other facts that have not yet been added to this entry which i would suggest the majority would consider of greater importance. David Gates

well, if i include some more current events for you, which allow a greater understanding of the envirnoment, i feel i should be allowed to include opinions of the pupils.

The information about Dominic Smith is incorrect - he is currently a 6th form pupil. This nonsense detracts from the prestige of the school. Remove it please.

I have noticed a lot of silliness regarding this article in recent edits. Please desist: we can block edits to the article if it continues. -- Francs2000 22:52, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Sam Freear is not a "sir" nor is he at Cambridge. He is a pupil in the Sixth Form.

The only other reference i can find to him is as a player for Morecambe FC in 2005 - there is nothing on the Cambridge site about him. David Gates

Why has my addition on Tim Lotus been removed??? This is true, I know because I created him, and I am a pupil at lrgs! And which idiot re-added "Joe Nolan is a lovely boy"??? - Henry

Tony Blair did not go to, nor ever even visited LRGS. I removed him from distinguished OLs

Who keeps removing the sentences on Tim Lotus? You must be a total retard, because I know for a fact he exists as I created him, if you know nothing on LRGS then DON'T REMOVE THINGS YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT. IP address 86.135.251.106 you are an IDIOT. STOP REMOVING ARTICLES WHICH ARE REAL, RE: TIM LOTUS. IF YOU ARE READING THIS THEN REVERT YOUR CHANGES.

Tim Lotus has been removed due to it being badly written and irrelevant, whether it be true or not; if this were allowed to continue the LRGS page would be filled with descriptions of childish class pranks, as opposed to objective infomation concerning the fascinating history and unique culture of this school.

Could you please explain how the sentences regarding Chris Meade are not irrelevant, and those regarding Tim Lotus are, seeing as how the late Chris Meade's creators were doing EXACTLY THE SAME THINGS as the creators of Tim Lotus. If you think such things are badly written, then I suggest you make some subtle changes to the grammar etc accordingly, and don't just delete the entire lot. By adding the information regarding Tim Lotus i cannot see how I am obscuring any of the "fascinating history and unique culture of the school". And finally, the school is a school, it would not be complete without some humour.

I think the above paragraph contains some valid points. You cannot decide that something is completely irrelavent and yet something similar is not. You are supposed to Correct previous information, not delete it because of poor spelling or grammar. Also, I believe that a small amount of humour does make the school complete, and this comment was in no way exceeding a limit.

As a past pupil of Our Ladies High School i find it incredibly funny to look at all these LRGS pupils playing these kind of pranks on n encyclopaedia. Come on lads, youre supposed to be the grammar school kids, not the idiots that go around vandalising websites.Pinster2001 14:45, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rowing

To my knowledge, the school has a long rowing tradition, and the current entry suggests otherwise. Anyone with more contextual knowledge than myself might like to amend this part. David Gates

the rowing at Lancaster is woefully underfunded, and while there is a strong movement within areas of the school, it is still eclipsed by rugby and cricket, thus not allowing it the chance to blossom as it gud elsewhere

[edit] TMC

I am led to believe that at some point the was a reference to The Monday Club on this page. Does anyone know who by or why it was deleted?

If the origional author cares not to rewrite the text, or if no-one responds to answer my question, I myself will comment on it.

[edit] clean up

This page requires a pretty major cleanup, the main points which should be addessed are;

  • One 'citation needed' tag throughout the whole article - this seams pointless, either removes it or put them in throughout the article
  • the first line does not flow 'Lancaster Royal Grammar School (LRGS) is a state grammar day- and boarding school for boys in Lancaster, England' think the word day is misplaced
  • Three sections only have one sentance, sections should therefore be merged and use more sentances
  • Dates do not match, in the info box it says the school was formed in 1235 yet in the main article it says 1472, it should be made more clear when it was actually formed.
  • There is some fairly inconsistant wikifying, the number of red links here suggests that some people wikified in the article are never going to have an article so shouldn't be wikified. There are a few wikilinks (e.g. in the first line 'state grammar' and 'LGGS' which are obviously broken.

Hope someone has time to clean up the page, I was just directed here from another page so I don't have the knowledge on the chool to sort it myself RyanPostlethwaiteSee the mess I've created or lets have banter 11:49, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] merge

Given that the articles are simply a mirror of each other, it is clear they should be merged. I have accordingly redirected Royal Grammar School of Lancaster to Lancaster Royal Grammar School as this is the name used on the school's web-site. DJR (T) 18:40, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
