Talk:Landmarks of Chicago
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This list was taken from Chicago school (architecture) with only a couple additions. However not all the buildings are still standing. They were listed on that page as examples of a particular architectural style. Can they be considered landmarks if they no longer exist? (Leiter I building I know is gone.) They certainly are not designated landmarks. Rmhermen 23:46, Dec 14, 2004 (UTC)
I was in Chicago around Christmas and remember seeing a grave all by itself in the city. I remember my relative telling me that it belonged to a family that refused to have the body exumed when the cemetery was moved. I forget exactly where it was. I was just curious as to who it is and whether it was a notable citizen or a famous citizen of Chicago. Morganismysheltie 21:40, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
- One of Chicago's first innkeepers. See Lincoln Park (Chicago), history section. Rmhermen 00:38, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Landmark Designation
This list should clearly define what constitutes a landmark. The definition should probably be items either listed on the National Historic Register or designated by the City's Commission on Chicago Landmarks. All other items should be removed or moved to a see also section. TonyTheTiger 17:54, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
