From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lawrence Dappa is a Nigeria former prisoner. In 1992, aged 26, he was arrested for stealing a stereo amplifier, on the word of an unknown accuser. Dappa was locked up in a Port Harcourt prison, but his case file was not reviewed until 2001. He was ordered released July 23, 2001 by the Department of Public Prosecution as there was no real case against him.
During a prison monitoring visit by Augustina Enyioha, Access to Justice Department, Centre for Social and Corporate Responsibility, she noticed Dapper as he was ill and needed assistance. His release document was found and Dappa was released from prison November 11, 2004.
