Learning for Life is part of the Scouting WikiProject, an effort to build a comprehensive and detailed guide to Scouting and Guiding on the Wikipedia. This includes but is not limited to boy and girl organizations, WAGGGS and WOSM organizations as well as those not so affiliated, country and region-specific topics, and anything else related to Scouting. We need citations especially for the issues section. In particular I think the bit about taxpayer id is wrong.--Erp 20:33, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
- We prettied up the current references, but I'm not sure what the last two are referencing. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but they seem to have just been copied from the bottom of a page describing a study on Exploring [1]. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 21:45, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

There is a lot of potentially interesting information in this article, but it has a lot of problems:
- Lack of references. The two that were added seem out of context as noted above.
- Weasel words: "technically", "it has been argued", "on paper", etc.
- Listy: The Workplace based programs section needs to be prosified.
- Case: It should be Learning for Life, council is lower case except when referring to a specific council, and more. See The Language of Scouting for guidance.
- Overall writing style is not up to par.

- I've revamped the Explorer section a bit. I'm inclined to remove the Issues section unless some citations are provided. I note for instance that the national BSA and national Learning for Life file two distinct tax forms with different EINs aka taxpayer id number. Councils, I believe, are suppose to have these organizations separate and have separate EINs for them (whether they do is another matter entirely and could be an issue but I can't find any source for it). --Erp 02:35, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- I suspect the tax number issue is is left up to individual councils. I think we have four or five Exploring posts here in SJAC and I am not aware of any LFL operations. We don't have any separate LFL executives. Other councils (probably in metropolitan areas) may have a separate or a shadow structure. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 13:20, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- Just to clarify the website issue: as a separate entity, LFL info is not supposed to be on BSA websites per Standards and Guidelines for Internet Publishing and Maintaining Local Council Web Sites. I would suspect there are similar policies for advertising and the like. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 13:49, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- And probably for separate budgets. LFL receives some money that is earmarked for groups that don't discriminate on the grounds of sex, sexual orientation, or religion (or lack thereof). Not having a clearly separate structure for spending that money could lead to problems down the road. However I've not seen sources documenting this as an issue and a lack of a separate EIN if that does happen at the council level is merely a symptom of the problem not the main issue. --Erp 18:19, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

- There is some stuff on BSA Discrimination, but there is no source for any of the info, so I'm a bit leery. Scouting for All (down until 1 MaAr) had a few articles. I'm sure one referred to LFL as a cash cow for the BSA which contradicts part of this article. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 18:32, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
