[edit] License tagging for Image:BestAlt.redvest.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:BestAlt.redvest.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 16:05, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Undoing My Edits

When editing the Daniel Rodriguez page, please do not undo my citation edits. I had to add citations so people can prove the information. Other articles have ciations, and this one needed a few. Also, when editing, please try to keep the article within the boundaries of the neutral point of view. Acalamari 21:25, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Please stop removing the citations; if you continue to remove them, you risk breaking the Wikipedia: Three-revert rule. I broke this rule once, and I was blocked for it. Acalamari 21:58, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

The Citations were removed when the links were verified. Thank you. Leah

[edit] My Edits

I would like to know why you changed all my edits to the Daniel Rodriguez page. I put in citations, and made the article more neutral. Now, my citations are gone and the neutral point of view that I put in is now gone. Acalamari 18:39, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

These concerns have been addressed as the entire bio has been revised and made neutral. It will be continued to be improved and updated. Thank you for your imput. User: Leah

[edit] Our policies

Hi, I have reverted many of your edits to Daniel Rodriguez, as they don't fit with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I've posted a list of key policies right above this note, and I'd like for you to have a look at them before you edit that article further. Wikipedia articles need to be impartial, properly verified using reliable sources, and to avoid sounding like press releases. Mr. Rodriguez is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, but let's write an article that abides by the rules, rather than one that sounds like it came from his PR firm. | Mr. Darcy talk 15:33, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WP:Minor

Please do not mark all your edits as minor, especially when removing substantial sections of text. Go to WP:Minor to learn what a minor edit is. Thank you. KP Botany 23:49, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] One account

We have now confirmed that at least seven accounts have come from the same IP address that you use to edit. I asked you once before (at User talk:Operadog) to edit from one account. I'm giving you a choice: Select one account that you all wish to use, and I will close the other six. Otherwise, I will have no choice but to block all of your accounts. (Affected accounts are Operadog, Leah01, Greekvoice, Broadwaydad, Maggiesings, DGFMM, and Abby01.) | Mr. Darcy talk 16:40, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks fine, delete all except this one. I would have if I had known How.. most of those were used by associates and they've long since left. I will be the only one using computer for this site from now on.Leah01 22:37, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

OK, thank you. If anyone asks you about your use of something called "sockpuppets" (the term we use for multiple accounts used by one person or entity), you can send them to me. As long as you only use one account from now on, and you only use one account on each Internet connection, you'll be fine. | Mr. Darcy talk 01:43, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Will do. Thanks.Leah01 01:51, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unblock needed

I have been unable to continue work as agreed, since I have been blocked. An email was sent to Mr. Darcy, but until this fixed, I cannot continue. I wanted to ask Jeff per his suggestion that many of the footnotes can be removed from the Daniel Rodriguez page, and perhaps only one or a few more for each paragraph. However I am not at all confident that I can make the choice on which ones might be removed. I must wait until this is done, before I begin the reformatting those footnotes/references. Bob 08:29, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

I'mm still blocked and now see my real first name shows up that I provided when I edited my account so my email address could be verified so I could email Mr. Darcy to unblock this user. My user name is still Leah01 and that does show up when I come to edit. Not sure if this will cause a mixup, but it's the name person. Moi.Bob 12:37, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi Jeff! Wow! What a wonderful job you've done! I also read in the list of things that could be added is something that shows he did have struggles, etc.. This might be able to be included. The information that he was suddenly dropped by his long time coach when he married and started his family. And that he went through a period that he calls his "dark years"...etc.. I did have that included a while back, but it was removed. Also the fact that he went through that a period of 5 years that he didn't sing at all. If this can be used, I can find sources. But I'm still blocked everywhere but here Bob 13:39, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Give it a try now - you should be unblocked. It was inadvertent - no one tried to block you specifically. | Mr. Darcy talk 15:23, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

==yes, I have been unblocked. thanksBob 18:34, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] More about his early years and Difficulties he had

http://www.northeasttimes.com/2003/0703/rita.html reference to seeing the movie "The Great Caruso" and being so taken with the singing of Mario Lanza. Not sure if that should be added, as I tried to insert this earlier but was removed, due to no verification..

Also as far as some of the Difficulties he had in his earlier years, the Classical Singer article that I have archived at this link, I realize I cannot use a Yahoo group as a reference, but this is the only place that you can read the article in it's entirety without signing up at the Classical Singer website. Just for your own information, to decide if this information about his being dropped by his vocal coach, that was such a devestating thing for him. You can read the article at this link: http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/DRMedia/message/161 Bob 13:56, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Here is link to read "Songs for the Soldiers" letter to verify. Bob 14:56, 9 January 2007 (UTC) http://www.chelseaopera.org/benefit_concert_uso.html

[edit] Your change to the Rodriguez article

I noticed the change you made to the Broadway Magic portion, and there's a problem: the reference does not support that. Here is what the article says: Emboldened, Rodriguez decided to rent a 150-seat hall at Snug Harbor on Staten Island and present a concert that he called "Broadway Magic." "I sold tickets, got a logo, did the Web site, advertised everything, called my family and said I'm singing again, and sold the place out -- made about $300 after expenses. I debuted my old repertoire with a new and improved look, and that was the beginning."

From that paragraph, it seems to indicate it was a one man show. Unless you can find another reference to support your assertion, it cant stay the way you changed it. Even if you know it to be otherwise, you need to be able to prove that with a source. Otherwise, it is orginal research, which is not allowed here. Not trying to be difficult, but this is an encyclopedia, and everything needs to be verifiable. Jeffpw 23:32, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Yes, his first one was a one man show with George popp at the piano, but he soon hired a soprano.. etc.. I have that in one of those articles.. I'll find it..also that link with the photos at St. Finbars, does show the entire group of two tenors and one soprano, who came to be called "Broadway magic" I'll find it.. thanks.````Bob 23:37, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Here is the group. The concerts they put on were called "Christmas Magic" but the group they called "Broadway Magic'.. I will find an article that uses that exact term..SOme of his recent charity concerts used that correct title. if I can find them.. if not tonight, tomorrow for sure..Bob 23:43, 9 January 2007 (UTC) http://www.neweraphoto.com/Christmas%20Magic.htm

[edit] Found it

Ok dokey, here is one that names them all. This may well be on the site, but I'll let you know if it needs to be footnoted? My brain has stopped for tonight..Bob 23:51, 9 January 2007 (UTC) "Broadway Magic" Also features the talents of pianist Victoria Vlanovskaya, Richard Parately on the flute and the singing of Maryann Mootos, Jorge Novoa and 12 year old Alisa Vlanovskaya. http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/DRMedia/message/83

[edit] original article

found this also at bottom of previous.. http://www.canarsiecourier.com/News/2003/1224/Religion/089.html Bob 23:52, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Great! I will include it tomorrow. It;s 1 am here, and I need to go to sleep. But I will say we did a lot of good work on this today. I think everyone involved in the creation and editing of this article should be very pleased. Jeffpw 23:57, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Another find for you to enjoy

Skip that one..I just removed previous like from someone's Myspace. this is a much beter one on the official site of our subject. A video from 2003.If you've not seen it yet. A great display of his power and style.Bob 03:45, 10 January 2007 (UTC) http://www.danielrodriguezmusic.com/The_Prayer.html

[edit] Article update

I have submitted the article for assessment and feedback to the Biography project. They will make suggestions as to how the article can be improved, including both additions and deletions to the article, as well as grammar, spelling, point of view issues, etc. This is usually the best way to improve an article here. Jeffpw 12:49, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

  • The article has now been assessed and given a grade of "B". That is the highest grade it can achieve without being nominated for Good Article status. It is now also listed for a Peer review, in order to see how other editors think it can be improved. So far, I have been told that some of the text is choppy, and it could flow better--a valid point, I think. In another day or so, we should get more feedback, and have a better idea how of what direction we need to be taking. Jeffpw 18:55, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wonderful

I saw that rating also. Great news and again Thank you for all you've done! Bob 19:00, 10 January 2007 (UTC) I should have added that we are a terrific team! Bob 19:19, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

  • I've now done a thorough copy edit, and trimmed some of the minor appearances that are not noteworthy for an encyclopedia entry. For instance, his appearance on Oprah Winfrey|Oprah, nestled between two performances on Capitol Hill, seemed a bit incongruous. Likewise, his appearances in Indianappolis and Baltimore, while possibly of interest to a fan, do not really establish notability as much as his international performances and political appearances. I also deleted his Disney award from the Philanthropy section, since it is not clear why he was given the award. If a reliable source can be found that states it was given for his charity, then by all means reinsert it.

The article now looks like a polished Wikipedia article, encyclopedic and by no means fancruft. Unless there are major events you think need to be inserted, I recommend that it stays this way until it has been peer reviewed. Jeffpw 21:18, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] I agree

I'm not making any changes. I agree! Bob 21:56, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Excellent

Great choice in using the word "former" in the opening paragraph in regard to his work with the PD. An important point that I'm very pleased to see included in the way. Perfect! Thanks again. Bob 22:20, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Great edit

Jeff, I'm Back again, I just read the entire article.. too many interruptions, but have to say it is very smooth and can't see how it could be improved. You have a gift! Now I know who to recommend when Mr. Rodriguez is ready to write his autobiography in a decade or so. He's still got a lot of living to do, so I don't expect one too soon. But hopefully someday. Bob 22:28, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] More work?

Jeff, I don't know if you've got time to check out Chelsea Opera's site and if you might be able to do any helping out there. I'm probably not going to be able add much more, so will just hope that it's improved enough to stay on the site. It truly deserves a place here as those folks do indeed present something a bit more special than the average small opera company. So we'll see. Just thought I'd put in my 2 cents worth. Bob 22:42, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Funny you should mention that. I was planning on having a look at that article tomorrow, to see if it needed any help. If it does, I hope you can help me by answering any questions I have. I have never heard of them. Jeffpw 23:26, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Yes

I can certainly try to anwer any guestions you might have. Their website and the articles that are footnoted have all that we've been able to find. I have attended Dan Rodriguez's opera debut there and was very impressed with their enthusiasm and professionalism. I am certain they are going to be growing and worth a place on Wikipedia. The two ladies who started this are performers in their own right and they absolutely know what they are doing. They have great support from the community around New York. So worth your time, I think.

I also do have another thought about the Rodriguez page.. What about listing the Oprah Winfrey Show appearance in this group. Below- since it was one of those early first nationwide appearances to a huge audience and really was an important event for him as far as his early name recognition. Happening early in his career in March of 2002. See what you think in the sentence below.

He was soon appearing on news and talk shows including, The Today Show, The Early Show, Larry King Live, The David Letterman Show, and Live with Regis and Kelly and the Oprah Winfrey Show.".. ???

If you think this would work, please add it. If not, I'll go with your decision. Bob 00:07, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

I don't think that would be appropriate, since the Oprah appearance was after he had performed at several world events. We've taken a linear approach to the bio, and those other appearances were right after 9/11, so to add Oprah would create confusion. Also, I am not really happy with that list of tv appearances. It seems a bit fancrufty to me. I left it in because each show has its own wiki article. My personal preference would have been to simply say "he appeared on many television programs", or something similar. Jeffpw 11:21, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Makes sense

Ok, that makes sense. Have to agree, with your wisdom and your detached point of view. :) Thanks. Bob 11:27, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] a bit of triva, to perhaps add?

http://www.zoominfo.com/people/Rodriguez_Daniel_575843786.aspx

when he graduated from the NYPD Academy in 1996, he was asked to sing the national anthem in front of two thousand policemen in Madison Square Garden.

If you think this bit of trivia would be a good addition, about the Two thousand "officers" (not all men) here is the link:

btw, they say that he became the unofficial singer of New York City's police department, guess the title of "official" came a bit later... Bob 20:26, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unblock request

I am not an administrator. Users, however, make their own unblock requests. If this user wanted unblocked, they would have requested it. Isn't it time to put your sockpuppetry behind us for now? All of it, including this issue of who you think should be unblocked or blocked? Thanks. KP Botany 02:15, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

I just feel sorry for someone who comes here for the first time to suddenly be blocked. Likely they were just as confused as a few of us were when we first discovered Wikipedia. Just trying to help. Bob 03:19, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

BTW, I gave my word that I would not allow anyone else to use my computer for posting on this site and I have kept my word. As far as any sockpuppertry, that is behind me. I just wish others would keep it that way. When I give my word, that's it. Bob 03:24, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WP:Minor

I have asked you repeatedly to not mark changes of text as "minor". Maybe you could read the link I provided and explain why you continue marking serial changes to the text as minor, when you've been asked not to?

A check to the minor edit box signifies that only superficial differences exist between the current and previous version: typo corrections, formatting and presentational changes, rearranging of text without modifying content, etc. A minor edit is a version that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute.

This, is a minor edit, where you did a spelling correction from "Tt" to "At."[1]

THIS is a change of content, and edit that requires review as the the content was in dispute on the talk page:[2]

"At the age of ten, Rodriguez began to study singing in earnest, attending the American Youth Repertory Company in Manhattan, where he would later act as assistant director."

"He began to study singing in his early teen years, attending the American Youth Repertory Company in Manhattan, where he would later act as assistant director."

THIS is also a change of content, and an edit that requires review:[3]

"In his early teens, a prominent figure in the New York music industry began giving Rodriguez free voice lessons,"

"When he was 12, a prominent figure in the New York music industry began giving Rodriguez free voice lessons,"

As "early teens" and "12" are not the same, and if the source does not clarify, you can't use it to reference this statement, if it does and it was wrong, you need to explain this in your edit summary, and NOT mark it a minor edit. I thought that Jeff read all the article before writing the text, as many of them had been quoted incorrectly initially. You can't reference something to what it did not say.

And AGAIN, this is not a minor change, as it is in quotation marks and is tied to a source:[4]

"He became known as "The Singing Cop" in his former work with the"

"He became known as "The Singing Policeman" in his former work"

So, where does the quotation come from? If the source, which you did not change, lists both, use both.

Please, the idea was to get this peer reviewed, then eventually get it to good article status and get it ranked in its project area where more people will see this article. When you get to the point that you think the article is stable and won't require dozens more edits, let me know. You do realize that getting ranked in its category, getting a good peer review, becoming a good article will all get the article more exposure? This continual editing is simply blocking the broader exposure of this article. In the meantime, please do NOT continue to mark substantive edits as "minor." I will post this on the article's talk page also, so that editors can deal with any errors introduced into the article. Thank you. KP Botany 17:22, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Geeze, sorry

I'm just trying to get a few things done that I felt needed. Just had a death in family and leaving for extended period. A little kindness would not be a bad thing around here. I'm not vandelising or trying to destroy here. I give up. Do with this what is needed or what you wish. Family is priority. SorryBob 17:39, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Good Article

Just a note to let you know that Daniel Rodriguez achieved Good Article status. Only approximately one in a thousand articles make it that far, so congratulations. Jeffpw 23:26, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

THANK YOU! To Jeff for all your efforts and all those who helped and for your kindness. It is much appreciated by ALL! I even heard Wikipedia mentioned as it was used as a source for some of the information on a recent radio interview. I understand that interview may be available on the subjects website, but haven't seen it yet. I'll be watching. I'll be away again for a bit, but will check back when I am able. Good work! Bob 14:33, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Official Photograph

A Wiki friend of mine, who is a very good photographer, is scheduled to talk Daniel's pic next week at a Knicks game. It will become his official Wiki photograph, freely available to all. Jeffpw 09:00, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Good news. Can it be added to the article, while keeping the original, I hope. thanksBob 23:16, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
