[edit] Partying The Tenants’ Rights Away!
On the first Friday in May, in celebration of another year of successfully selling-out the tenants of Lefrak City, the LCTA’s board of directors puts on a lavish bourgeois awards dinner-dance. At this event they give out awards to some well deserving residents and some who should be in jail.
Leading up to this event the clique spends countless hours and sleepless nights planning this farce on the residents. They go around to the selected few they would like to see at the event and secretly sell them tickets. No word is made public about the “affair” to us peons who are the tenants of this beautiful City. Most of us are left to find out through the “grapevine.”
Spending in excess of $20,000, (and never disclosing how the money was raised or on what or who it was spent) they go about doing the electric slide and other fancy dance moves.
This display of inconsiderate arrogance is unbelievable. No wonder the residents suffer!
How can one justify the expense that is made for such an affair when during the whole year, nothing of substance is done for the residents of Lefrak City?
While used condoms and the smell of urine in the stairwells confine decent folks to their apartments, the Board parties.
Although marijuana bags and crack vials litter our paths as we go about our business, the Board of Directors do the “electric slide.” It’s Shocking!
And while most of us stay home in fear of having to pass through the gauntlet of individuals hanging-out in the hallways of our buildings, “they” celebrate!
Hopefully, on Monday, May 15, 2006 (Lefrak CIty Tenants' Association Election) their ill-gotten gains and partying will, thankfully, come to an end!!
