Lenara Kahn was a fictional character appearing in the sixth episode of the fourth season of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, "Rejoined". A female Trill scientist, portrayed by Susanna Thompson, she had a brief relationship with Jadzia Dax. The Trill disapproved of this relationship not because it was a lesbian one, but because the previous hosts of both symbionts, Torias Dax and Nilani Kahn, had been married, so Jadzia and Lenara were violating a taboo against reassociation. Jadzia and Lenara broke off the relationship rather than face the taboo, as the penalty for reassociation was exile and the eventual death of the symbiont at the end of the host's life.
Kahn and her colleagues Hanor Pren and her brother Bejal Otner were visiting Deep Space Nine to conduct field tests on a technique to create artificial wormholes. Although initial results were promising, it was found that the wormhole was unstable.
