Liberty High School (LHS) is a four-year public high school in Eldersburg in Carroll County, Maryland, United States. The current Principal of the school is Dwayne Piper.

[edit] About the School
Liberty High School was established in 1980 in Eldersburg, Maryland as part of the Carroll County Public School system.
The school's first graduation ceremony was held in 1982. Since that time, 25 classes have graduated from Liberty High School.
Liberty follows a class schedule different from that followed in the rest of the county. Each class meets every other day (every pre-determined "A" or "B" day), with four class periods each day. Thus, it takes a student two days to attend every one of their classes. Because of this schedule, 1 credit courses are held the entire school year, with .5 credit courses held during 1 semester, half of the school year. Some courses, such as Advanced AP Calculus, meet on both "A" and "B" days during the entire year, and thus are worth 2 credits. Following is an schedule that could be given to an incoming freshman.

Liberty High School's campus consists of approximately 53 acres, consisting mostly of athletic practice fields. The stadium (often called the Lion's Den or the Liberty Bowl) is used for most JV and Varsity level sports. There are six tennis courts east of the main school building, and two baseball fields that border Maryland Route 32 for the outdoor sports not hosted in the stadium. The school has two main parking lots, the larger "Senior" parking lot on the western side of the building, and the smaller "Junior" parking lot on the eastern side. While the nicknames of these parking lots are commonly used by students and staff alike, this apparent division of class is largely ignored in favor of finding a convenient parking space.

Liberty High School enrolls 1,206 students as of February 13, 2007. The present Senior Class (graduating June 7, 2007) contains 297 students.

During the 2006-2007 school year, Liberty High School had a faculty of 132 teachers and staff. Liberty's staff includes six teachers that have worked at the school since its founding in 1980, and five teachers and staff that are graduates of the school.

Liberty High School has a very wide range extracurricular activities and sports. Students are allowed to join as many clubs and sports as they wish, however are only permitted to be President (or equivalent) of a single club. Each club is sponsored by a member of the faculty who advises the club and helps direct its activities.

- Academic Challenge
- The Academic Challenge Club is a quiz bowl and trivia team that competes against other Carroll County Schools and in various tournaments, such as It's Academic.
- Allies Club
- The Allies Club helps students understand the complexities of alternate lifestyles.
- Art Club
- The Art Club works to commend, improve, and exhibit the artistic talents of students and raise awareness of art in the school. Membership is open to students currently enrolled in an art class.
- Audio/Visual Club
- The Audio/Visual Club provides technical support for stage productions and activities within the school.
- Band/Orchestra
- Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, and Jazz Band are all co-curricular activities involving in-school classes and afterschool rehearsals and concerts. Members may also audition for positions in the All-County and All-State Band or Orchestra.
- Book Discussion Club
- The Book Discussion Club meets monthly to read and review books chosen by the club and advisors.
- Chorus
- Chorus is a co-curricular activity involving one of several classes and afterschool rehearsals and concerts. Members may also audition for positions in the All-County and All-State Chorus.

- Class Executive Boards organize fundraising activities and other activities for each graduating class. Funds raised by each class will be used towards that class's Senior Prom, Senior Cruise, gift to the school, and other purposes decided by the board.
- Debate Club
- The Debate Club works to improve successful debating skills by participating in mock debates on current events.
- Destination Imagination
- Destination Imagination is a group of seven students that collaborate to create their own improvisational stage production.
- Drama Club
- The Drama Club stages two to three productions each year, usually including a play, a musical, and the "Class Acts", a set of four one-act plays written and produced by members of each graduating class.
- Future Business Leaders of America
- The FBLA aids students seeking a future occupation in business or business education.
- Fellowship of Christian Athletes
- The FCA is a collection of students seeking to reach out to each other and to God. Members are not required to play on a school sports team.
- Future Farmers of America
- The FFA is for students interested in agricultural sciences or education. Membership is open to students currently enrolled in a agriscience class.
- French Club
- The French Club provides a range of cultural and linguistic activities relating to the French Culture. Membership is open to students currently enrolled in a French language course.
- German Club
- The German Club participates in German cultural activities and practices the German language. Membership is open to students currently enrolled in a German language course.
- Hebrew Club
- The Hebrew Club raises awareness of the Hebrew language, history, and traditions.
- Key Club
- The Key Club is a service organization that works to raise funds and materials for various charities.
- Liberty Film Society
- The Liberty Film Society watches one foreign film each month after school and discusses its' relevance in today's society.
- Lion's Pride Marching Band
- The Marching Band is a Group I participant in Chapter V of Tournament of Bands, a multi-state competition organization for marching bands. The Marching Band also plays in the annual Homecoming Parade and plays stand music at home football games. Membership is open to anyone currently enrolled in an instrumental music class.
- Mathletes
- The Mathletes meet roughly each month to solve a test of five difficult math problems to improve their skills and earn extra credit in their mathematics courses.
- Multicultural Club
- The Multicultural Club helps raise awareness of various cultures through school activities and displays.
- National Honor Society
- Liberty High School's chapter of the National Honor Society conducts service projects for the community and school, and raises money to fund scholarships for graduating members. Students are eligible for membership if they have earned a cumulative weighted GPA of 3.6 or higher over three semesters, with no final grades of D or F, however final decisions on membership lie with a faculty council.
- Photography Club
- The Photography Club allows students to learn and enhance existing photographic skills and share their works in exhibition and in photo contests. The Photo Club is the newest club at Liberty High School.
- Principal's Advisory Group
- The Principal's Advisory Group works with the administration to provide a student's views on new rules and other situations.
- Russian Club
- The Russian Club provides a chance to experience the Russian language and culture.
- Science Club
- The Science Club is for students with an interest and enthusiasm in science. The club is working to set up a Science Fair at Liberty High School.
- Ski/Snowboard Club
- The Ski Club takes trips during the winter season to nearby ski resort Ski Liberty for both advanced and learning skiers and snowboarders.
- Spanish Club
- The Spanish Club provides a Spanish-themed environment for students interested in the culture. Membership is open to students currently enrolled in Spanish III, IV, or AP Spanish with at least a B average.
- Student Government Association
- The SGA serves as the voice of the student body, organizing and conducting such activities as school dances, Homecoming week, and blood drives.
- Teenage Republicans Club
- The Teenage Republicans Club allows students to participate in a political scene and encourage other students to do the same.
- Varsity Club
- The Varsity Club is for students who wish to promote school spirit and encourage participation in interscholastic activities. Membership is open to students involved in one or more varsity sports.
- Writers Club
- The Writers Club provides an opportunity for students to share their original works of poetry and prose.
- Yearbook Production
- The Yearbook staff works in class to design and publish the annual yearbook. Unlike in most schools, Liberty's yearbook is distributed in the fall of the following school year.
