Lida Hooe School was named Sunset Hill School when it first was opened in 1920. The main building was finished in 1923, and in 1924 the name of the school was changed to Lida Hooe in memory of the former teacher and writing supervisor. (Lida Hooe was born on 14 September 1875, in Hungerford, Texas. She graduated from Dallas High School as valedictorian in 1892.) [1]
