Talk:Lilium pardalinum subsp. pitkinense
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] Importance
Is due to the following factors:
- a. Listing as an endangered species
- b. Endemic to a narrow range within the San Francisco Bay Area (in fact, within Sonoma County solely)
- c. Beauty and stature of plant
- d. Role in evaluating development proposals in southwestern Sonoma County Anlace 01:14, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Nomenclature
My understanding is that subspecies names are always lower case and never capitalised, even when they are named after a place (as in this example) or after a person - ie it should be written Lilium pardalinum subsp. pitkinense 86.140.131.87 09:20, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
- Lower case is now used. Comment noted. Anlace 18:11, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
