Lincoln Village, Ohio

Lincoln Village is an unincorporated census-designated place in Prairie Township, within Franklin County, Ohio. It is centered near the intersection of U.S. 40 and I-270 on the west side of Columbus. As of the 2000 census, the population was 9,482.
Lincoln Village was started in 1955 as a planned community by a real estate subsidiary of Nationwide Insurance. The community was developed to have all the essentials such as a shopping center, schools, and parks, and to incorporate safety considerations such as not positioning the homes on street corners to eliminate blind intersections.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 9,482 people, 4,013 households, and 2,524 families residing in Lincoln Village. The population density was 1,957.8/km² (5,074.6/mi²). There were 4,196 housing units at an average density of 866.4/km² (2,245.6/mi²). The racial makeup is 91.13% White, 3.74% Black or African American, 0.38% Native American, 0.57% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 2.91% from other races, and 1.24% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.00% of the population.
There were 4,013 households out of which 27.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.4% were married couples living together, 13.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.1% were non-families. 30.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.35 and the average family size was 2.92.
The population is spread out with 23.5% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 23.0% from 45 to 64, and 14.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 93.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.8 males.
The median income for a household in Lincoln Village is $33,791, and the median income for a family was $41,110. Males had a median income of $31,539 versus $26,158 for females. The per capita income is $16,886. About 9.3% of families and 12.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 16.0% of those under age 18 and 6.4% of those age 65 or over.
