Lionel Manuel (born April 13, 1962 in Rancho Cucamonga, California), is a former American professional football player who was selected by the New York Giants in the 7th round of the 1984 NFL Draft. A 5'11", 180 lbs. wide receiver from the University of the Pacific, Manuel played in 7 NFL seasons, and spent his entire career with the Giants (1984-1990). His peak performance was during the 1988 season, when he caught 65 passes for 1,029 yards and scored 4 touchdowns.
Manuel's career came to an abrupt towards the end of the 1990 season. After a 10-0 start, the Giants lost two consecutive games. Coach Bill Parcells quickly decided to cut Manuel from the team after several poor performances. The Giants finished the 1990 season 13-3, and went on to win Super Bowl XXV against the Buffalo Bills 20-19.
